Breakwater Pools runs pool care across Cape Cod from a small, hands-on shop in West Yarmouth. The company says it opened in 1993 and describes itself today as family-owned, with 31-plus years in the pool business; across dozens of Google reviews, customers refer to the person doing the work simply as Kevin. What repeats across three years of reviews is directness: Kevin answers calls and texts himself, shows up on the day he commits to, and stays reachable when something goes wrong — one customer said he responds quickly "even in the middle of a holiday weekend," another coordinated a leak repair and new liner from a winter home in North Carolina and praised the steady updates along the way. Several reviewers describe using the company for three-plus years running, through liner replacements, filter and heater upgrades, and one full installation of a Soake plunge pool's control system. Others credit him with solving recurring algae and water-balance problems, including on a saltwater pool that's tricky to keep clear. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active and verified directly against the state registry, held under the company's own name. One review worth reading before signing up for weekly service: a 2024 customer described visits capped at roughly 15 minutes for $150, said the company felt understaffed, and got pushback when they raised it. It stands alone in an otherwise near-unanimous run of five-star reviews spanning 2022 through 2024, but it's specific enough to be worth asking about directly — what a standard maintenance stop actually covers. Breakwater is a fit for a homeowner who wants one familiar person handling openings, closings, and mid-season fixes and doesn't mind dealing with that person directly rather than an office. Given the 2024 account, it's worth confirming up front how long a routine visit runs and what's included before committing to a season.
Kevin and his team at Breakwater Pools have done a great job repairing and maintaining our pool this summer. They have been very responsive and reliable. Our pool has not looked this good in a long time!
I would not use this company. I thought supporting a new, small local Company would be a good thing to do. I was wrong! They anre understaffed and told me they cannot spend more than 15 minutes at any house or the lose money! So for $150 you get 15 minutes of adequate work and a big attitude when anything is questioned. Poor service, poor attitude. Go elsewhere there are plenty of other pool service companies! I believe the length of your response says at all. My less than one star review stands!
We’ve been using Breakwater for several years now and have had nothing but exceptional service. Kevin is very detail oriented and makes the whole process seamless. Breakwater Pools always exceeds our expectations.
Breakwater does an excellent job with pool services. They are great to work! Having a saltwater pool, water quality is very important and Breakwater is amazing at keeping the pool perfectly clean and balanced throughout the busy summer! Highly recommend.
Kevin is very reliable and reasonably priced. He installed a new liner for us and now opens, closes, and maintains our pool. I would highly recommend Breakwater Pools as they will not disappoint.
