The company says it has been in business 20 years, and its website lists towns such as Avon, Berlin, Bristol, East Hartford, Glastonbury, Hartford, Manchester and Middletown in its service area. A recent customer said Kevin pointed out their unit was probably still under warranty, did not charge a service charge for the first visit, and later identified and resolved an issue another company could not find. A 2026 customer said Mike spent close to five hours troubleshooting a boiler that another company had already replaced multiple parts on, explaining what he was ruling out as he went. A 2022 customer in East Hartford said the oil furnace, tank, duct work and thermostat were all replaced in one day. A 2025 Reddit commenter on r/Connecticut said Campbell Cooling replaced their furnace, handles their oil delivery and annual maintenance, and installed a new AC at their mother's home. A recent customer said they paid $900+ for a motor repair that did not change how the central air ran, was then quoted $13,500 for a new system, and has not received a refund. A recent customer said a technician reworked an AC drain line, the company arrived at 4:45pm after the customer waited all day for a return visit, and no estimate followed. A recent customer said the company changed their water tank without a quote or written authorization and charged more than a fair rate.
“Campbell cooling in Newington”
“Campbell Cooling in Newington. They replaced my furnace before I bought my house and do my oil delivery service and annual maintenance. They also installed new AC at my moms.”
“Campbell Cooling has been good for me.”
“Campbell Cooling and Heating got a call from Rocky Hill homeowners on Thursday after they noticed it was getting a bit hot in the house.”
They installed a new oil fired boiler in less than one day. They did a beautiful job. They are very knowledgeable and courteous. Excellent workmanship.
In the beginning of this summer, my central air system wasn’t working properly so I called them and someone came out to take a look. I was told the motor was the issue and they’ll fix it, which will fix the problem. So I was like alright cool and paid the $900+. They “fix it”, leave and the central air was acting the same as if nothing was changed so I called them the next day and someone else came out and looked at the entire system and said actually your whole system is bad and it needs to be replaced entirely. I still haven’t received a refund and every time I called, the woman who answered told me the owner will call me and the owner never did. Eventually I get an email quote saying it’ll be $13,500 to replace the system and nothing about refunding me the $900+. Do what you want with this information…..
I have had a lot of experience dealing with HVAC companies over the years and Campbell Cooling is bar none, the best company I've ever worked with. I previously used another company for (2) large projects which had been an absolute nightmare. Before doing any work, Kevin at Campbell was kind enough to point out my machine was probably under warranty still and if anyone but the installing company touched it, would void my warranty and didn't even charge me a service charge to come out initially. This was my first sign this company was top notch. Eventually, I had enough and asked Campbell to take over and get my unit up and running for the summer. Kevin identified and resolved the issue (which the other unnamed company could not find) AND did it for a fair price that was literally 400% less than the other company. Price gouging is alive and well with many of these big HVAC companies; not Campbell. It is nearly impossible to find good, honest contractors these days with a business model centered on honesty with a family-first approach. Campbell is the last of a dying breed and I look forward to using them again for my family's HVAC needs in the future. Do yourself the favor and give them a call.
Called them to come out in March because my AC unit was leaking. A technician came out and reworked the drain line, but said he didn't think that was the issue, he thought it was a cracked pan, so he would get me an estimate to repair that. After several weeks of not hearing anything, it took a bunch of phone calls for Campbell Cooling to say they would come take a look again first thing in the morning. I took a day off and waited all day. They showed up at 4:45pm. Only to tell me that they don't repair the pans in my unit and that I should replace the entire system at upwards of $10,000. He would get me an estimate by the next day. I never heard from them again. Very unreliable.
Very disappointed with this company. They responded to our initial request promptly but then, without providing a quote or having a written authorization from us, they changed our water tank and charged us more than a fair rate for the work. Not trustworthy at all.
