Cape & Islands Glass runs a full-service glass shop at 234 Iyannough Rd (Route 28) in Hyannis with additional locations its BBB profile lists in Sandwich, Orleans and Edgartown, owned by Scott Gladish with 18 employees and a business start date of 1981. The work spans household glass — shower enclosures, mirrors, window and cabinet glass, tabletops, glass railings — alongside a large auto-glass and windshield business. When the job goes well, customers describe it in detail. A February 2026 reviewer from Rhode Island with a condo in Truro had a mis-cut glass tabletop re-cut to size the same afternoon on New Year's Eve after the Orleans store was closed; a 2025 reviewer who is a carpenter said the shop replaced a broken Andersen double-hung insulated glass unit quickly and expertly after he failed at it himself; a 2024 reviewer had a dining table glass top delivered on time with the broken glass removed, the shards vacuumed and the table cleaned before installation. Several windshield customers name the same technician, John, and describe insurance handled end to end. The complaints are just as detailed and they cluster on one thing: communication and follow-through. Across 2022 to 2026 reviewers describe unanswered phones and voicemails, quotes requested repeatedly and never delivered, appointments missed or scheduled at the wrong time, a windshield ordered wrong after a two-and-a-half week wait, a glass vanity panel that took six months, a customer's window frame thrown out, and a $350 prepayment for glass that was never refunded when the work turned out not to be doable. That split is the story here: on Google the business sits at 3.6 stars from 53 ratings, and the written record divides sharply between people delighted with a fast, skilled job and people who could not get called back. One reviewer even asserts the positive reviews are staff offsetting the negative ones — an unverified allegation, but a sign of how polarised the page is. Before booking, get the quote and the appointment time in writing, confirm before you leave a deposit what happens if the job turns out not to be doable, and ask directly whether they currently serve your town — a 2022 reviewer was told that because of an employee shortage they were not servicing customers over the bridge. Note also that the A+ shown on the BBB profile sits on a business that page says is NOT BBB accredited.
“Cape and Islands Glass in Hyannis!!”
“The owner of Cape and Islands Glass has a concern about the intersection construction right out his front door.”
Helpful and courteous shop employees. Real nice glass work. A+ service. Thank you!
Total incompetence. Make me wait 2 and a half weeks for an appointment, then I get there and they have the wrong windshield. Guy is super apologetic, tells me he's going to call me at the end of the day after he finds the right windshield. No call at end of day so I called them. "The guy left for the day he will call you tomorrow". No call the next morning. I call back in the afternoon, the guy refuses to talk to me on the phone and I get the secretary again who is maybe 16 years old? Gives me absolutely no information except "he's waiting to hear from the dealer". Well it's been another week since then and I've still heard nothing back. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone on the planet. Wasted 3 weeks for absolutely no reason. This is not owned by the same people it used to be run by. Find another glass shop.
A stone cracked the windshield of my 2016 Honda CR-V. Cape & Islands Glass is the place I used in the past so I went there again. They’ve always been highly recommended as long as I can remember. I called my insurance company, they contacted them & I was immediately called by Cape & Islands Glass. I had an 11am appointment but showed up a couple hours early & John was able to accommodate me. He replaced the windshield, was very kind & made sure I knew about dos & donts, their warranty & also to call if there were any issues. I highly recommended this company and John!
I live in Rhode Island and own a condo in Truro, Mass. I had previously ordered a glass table top for a coffee table at the condo. I had ordered and picked it up locally here in Rhode Island. I never thought they'd be a problem with it. To my surprise the glass was a half inch too long. Unfortunately for me I was two hours from where I bought it and it was New Year's Eve. I called Cape & Islands Glass with the hopes a miracle. The Orleans store was closed, but I was able to have the glass cut to size that afternoon in Hyannis. I will not soon forget the whole experience. The Hyannis location cut the glass without charge. It really was a miracle. The manager said "pass this good deed onto someone this holiday and make the world a better place". With the biggest smile and a huge amount of appreciation I returned to Truro with the glass top cut to perfection. I give Cape & Islands Glass a 5 Star rating. They deserve it as well as your business. It was a Happy New Year 2026 !
Got the job done! Windshield replacement. Fast and courteous.
