Windshields booked through an insurance claim are where Cape & Islands Glass looks its best. A February 2026 customer whose 2016 Honda CR-V took a stone said they called their insurer and the shop rang them straight back; a May 2025 reviewer had a new windshield fitted within three days of the phone call, covered in full; a July 2025 customer who had been getting the run-around from Safelite said this shop got it done in a day. The Hyannis company keeps locations in Hyannis, Orleans and Edgartown and says it has been on the Cape for over 30 years. It is a full glass shop as much as an auto one: shower enclosures, custom mirrors, window glass, glass railings, tabletops and storefront work. A September 2024 customer replacing a broken dining table top said it arrived on time and fit, and the crew carried off the broken glass, vacuumed the shards and cleaned the table before setting the new one in. A carpenter writing in August 2025, after giving up on swapping the glass in an Andersen double-hung himself, said they did it quickly and expertly. Getting hold of the shop is the complaint that keeps coming back, and it runs across years. Two reviewers in 2022 said the company simply never turned up — one in February, who added that no one answered the phone, and one in October. A third, in September 2022, went into the store for an estimate on cabinet-glass inserts and said the callback never came; another, in July 2022, said a bathroom vanity glass dropped off in February took six months. A 2023 reviewer said appointment times came out wrong. In July 2025 a customer said five calls asking for a quote, with their contractor chasing too, produced nothing. In March 2026 a customer who had waited two and a half weeks arrived to the wrong windshield and then no promised end-of-day call. Two reviewers describe damage: in July 2025, one said the technician cracked the new windshield during the installation and went quiet about the re-repair; in February 2022, another said a plastic cover was bent and metal dented on their vehicle. And in February 2025 a customer who had prepaid for a fogged thermopane repair the technician then could not carry out got the labor back but not the $350. If your insurer is arranging the windshield, or you want a mirror, a tabletop or a pane cut and fitted by a long-established Cape shop, this is a reasonable call. Pin the date and the price down in writing before anything is ordered, have them confirm the exact glass for your vehicle or opening, and agree who will call you back and when.
