Chilel Painting is a family-run painting company on Tucker Street in Lynn, Massachusetts, working the North Shore and beyond. Customers know the owner as Osvaldo — he also appears in reviews as Oswaldo, Ozweldo and simply 'Oz' or 'Ozzie' — and he works alongside his brothers rather than sending a crew out alone [E336351, E336360]. What comes up again and again, across seven years of reviews, is preparation. A homeowner writing in September 2025 about an 1895 farmhouse said roughly 80% of the crew's attention went into scraping, sanding, surface prep, power washing, caulking and priming before any finish coat, and that they replaced rotted siding along the way. Another, in June 2025, described them filling every crack, gap and nail hole, fixing woodwork, priming twice and applying two finish coats, then protecting the gardens and removing fixtures and door seals so everything could be painted properly. A December 2025 customer got a written quote by text within a couple of days and said the crew spent over a week just prepping. In a 2021 review a homeowner described exterior trim work in 100-degree heat, with power washing, scraping, sanding and rotted pieces replaced, finished in under two weeks on a large house. The work runs wider than exterior painting. Reviewers describe kitchen cabinet refinishing — one in 2023 said four artisans transformed dark cabinets into a bright workspace while protecting the dishes inside them, another in 2023 called a two-day cabinet job flawless — plus popcorn ceiling removal that other companies had told the customer was impossible, wallpaper removal, deck repainting and staining, and house and step pressure washing [E336391, E336392]. Several customers say they have hired the company more than once [E336349, E336382]. The record is deep rather than thin: 50 reviews across four platforms from 2019 to 2026, rating 5.0 from 22 on Angi, 4.7 from 23 on HomeAdvisor and 5.0 from 8 on Google [E336371, E336398, E336323], with three reviews in the last six months and no negatives among them. It is not uniformly perfect, and the exceptions are worth knowing. In October 2019 a customer left half a star, writing that there were 'a lot of problems' and that the company 'did not fix everything he had broken'. In August 2020 another gave four stars, pleased with the work but noting the bill came without a letterhead and that no warranty was explained; a 2020 reviewer, by contrast, said the work was warranted and that the company came back to fix problems. Both complaints are five to six years old and nothing similar appears since. They suit a homeowner who wants exterior repainting, cabinet refinishing or ceiling and wallpaper work done with heavy prep by a small owner-led crew, and who values getting the same people back for the next job. Before signing, ask for the paperwork the older reviews found lacking — a written contract on letterhead, the warranty terms in writing, and the current Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration number so you can check it with the state yourself, since none of these listings publishes one.

I had Ozzie and his crew work on several projects in my home. Ceiling repair from water damage in a few areas, repainting, outdoor porch repairs and painting. Also had him power wash the whole house and shed, as well as my trailer. They did an outstanding job. They were here on time each day and put in more than a full day's work every day. The quality of the work was perfect. I've now has Chilel Painting twice and would definitely hire them again for any more projects I have. Hardworking and will do whatever needs to be done, they exceeded my expectations.

Chilel Painting did a great job painting the exterior of our home. The whole experience was very professional, within a couple days of calling about a price quote, I had it on my phone via text. Everything we discussed was included in the contact. Chilel’s crew spent over a week just prepping the house for paint. Then replaced some damaged facia boards, primer and two finish coats. Overall, I’m very happy with the quality of their work…and all at a fair price. I would use them again.

Osvaldo and his crew are amazing - they have painted for me personally as well as several clients. Always professional, clean, and they do a great job. I’ve been a real estate agent for a long time and these guys are my Goto painters!
