223 Google ratings averaging 4.8, and the words that keep surfacing are the same two: fast, and honest. Christie Cooling and Heating runs out of Concord Road in Acton and does residential and commercial heating and cooling — furnaces, boilers, central air, ductless mini-splits and thermostats. A Reddit commenter in June 2026 described Taylor Christie as a BU engineering grad who spun off from a big commercial company into his own shop, and said that even with a couple of crews now he is still personally out in the field. The reviews fit that shape. In a February 2025 review a homeowner wrote that their heat died on a Sunday night, Taylor picked up the phone himself and talked them through getting it running before coming out to service the furnace. A June 2024 reviewer said he showed up within a few hours on one of the hottest days of the year and had the AC fixed in half an hour. A December 2024 customer said they cancelled a HomeServe service contract because Christie was simply better. Several mention being told what did not need replacing — one 2025 reviewer specifically noted new parts recommended without an upsell. The complaints cluster in two places, and both are worth raising before you book. Twice — December 2023 and June 2024 — people wrote that they asked for a quote, on a whole-house humidifier and on an ERV install, and the promised call back never came. And a handful describe work that did not hold: an August 2025 reviewer said a coil cleaning left the Schrader valve service port caps off and the AC froze up a month later, with the company declining to come back and fix it; a January 2025 reviewer alleged parts marked up sharply, a repair that failed inside two months, and unreturned calls afterwards. A May 2024 reviewer said a pool-heater install billed at $3,682.50 was plumbed badly enough to need $600 of rework by someone else. For a same-day no-heat or no-cool call in Acton and the towns around it, this is a deeply reviewed small shop where the owner still turns up on the job. On anything bigger than a service call, get the scope and the price in writing, and settle up front what happens if the repair does not hold.
