Christie Cooling and Heating is an Acton HVAC outfit where the owner, Taylor Christie, still personally answers many service calls himself — a Reddit thread in a Newton-area group described him as a BU engineering grad who left a big commercial company to start his own crew and still works the field alongside his now-larger team. Across 223 Google ratings the average sits at 4.8★, and the Better Business Bureau grades the company A+. The pattern across years of reviews is speed on emergency calls. One customer whose heat went out on a Sunday night said Taylor answered personally and walked them through a temporary fix before scheduling a repair. In a 2018 review, a customer described an AC failure during a heat wave: after multiple companies couldn't see him for a week, Taylor responded to a HomeAdvisor inquiry within half an hour and had the part replaced that same day. A more recent account described the same shape — a weekend emergency call, the crew out first thing Monday, and a "somewhat tricky" problem diagnosed on the spot. Several reviewers also credit clear explanations: one 2025 customer said Taylor recommended new parts for a central air unit "without upselling", and a 2020 HomeAdvisor review described a careful investigation and a plainly explained cost estimate before any work began. A handful of reviews describe billing and follow-up friction worth asking about. One customer said they were charged roughly double for parts and couldn't get a callback for months after a repair failed within two months. Another, requesting a quote for a whole-house humidifier, said the company went quiet for three weeks despite repeated follow-up, and a similar no-response complaint appears around a 2024 ERV-installation inquiry. A 2025 review also described refrigerant valve caps left off after a coil cleaning, leading to a later freeze-up the company wouldn't return to address; in a 2021 review, a customer described two newly installed mini-splits that stayed troublesome after a partial repair. For routine and emergency HVAC work — furnaces, central air, mini-splits — the record favors calling Christie for anything urgent; it's worth confirming pricing and callback timelines up front on quote-only requests given the complaints above.
“Taylor Christie @ Christie HVAC is wonderful. Super smart, honest guy who is a BU engineering grad who spun off into his own company after a decade a big commercial company. He has grown and has a couple crews now but they are still small (in a good way) and he is still personally out in the field managing everything. (978) 881-4242”
They are professional , responsive and provide quality work. i would recommend them highly
Friendly employees, quick responses, excellent service, and reasonable pricing. Everything you’d want from a service provider.
I had a very disappointing experience with this HVAC company. In July, their technician performed a coil cleaning on my system. About a month later, my AC unit began freezing up. After investigating, I discovered that the Schrader valve service port caps had been left off the valves. When I contacted the company, they refused to fix the problem and left me with the issue unresolved. Leaving Schrader valve service port caps off has led to refrigerant leaks and serious system damage — a basic but critical oversight. While the caps primary purpose is to prevent dirt and moisture entering the system, leaving the caps off can cause refrigerant leaks as well, especially on older systems. This experience shows a lack of care for both the equipment and the customer, especially that they noted my system is old. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable and responsible HVAC service.
Taylor was professional, competent, and friendly. He got the job done efficiently and without any issues. I will call Christie Cooling and Heating again for any future issues, and would recommend to friends and family.
Taylor took my call, provided me honest, professional guidance and quote for an AC repair and was able to come by the same day to resolve. You don’t find my companies that can do that lately, so really appreciate the reasonable prices, honest and speedy work. Christie’s will be my go-to company moving forward for my heating and cooling needs. Highly recommended!
