Pinnacle HVAC has been running out of Acton since 2001, founded by Jay Savoie, and the company describes itself as family-owned. Twenty-five years in, it still splits reviewers into two camps: a long list of homeowners who call it their default HVAC company, and a smaller but real thread of complaints about follow-through once money changes hands. The strongest praise centers on Jay and the crew catching things others miss. In a November 2025 review, a homeowner described three plumbing and heating firms all recommending a full two-boiler system replacement after their heat failed — Pinnacle found a single burned-out fuse instead and fixed it in under an hour. Speed shows up often too: in a June 2025 review, a technician showed up the next day with the needed part already on the truck after an AC died on the hottest day of the year, and in an August 2025 review Jay personally answered an overnight AC failure and had it fixed within two hours the next morning. Named technicians — Jimmy, Ben, Mike, Derek — recur across years of reviews, and one customer described using the company for a decade, from annual maintenance to full system installs. The record also holds real complaints, spread across nearly a decade rather than clustered in one bad stretch. A review posted this August described repeated missed repair windows and a lack of proactive updates during a hot-weather AC breakdown. A January 2026 review described a months-long wait for a refund after a dispute routed through a home warranty company. In a March 2025 review, a customer of over five years said the owner pushed to sell a new system rather than repair an existing one and was slow to return a deposit. And two 2016 reviews describe unresolved installation issues and an undisclosed travel charge; one of those reviewers said a look at the company's Better Business Bureau rating at the time would have changed their decision. Of the two reviews posted so far this year, one was a straightforward five stars and the other was the August complaint above — worth asking directly about current scheduling reliability and how pricing and deposits are handled before committing to a larger job. For a diagnostic call, a mini-split or heat pump install, or a second opinion before a big-ticket replacement, the praise here is specific and repeats by name. For a larger installation or anything involving a deposit, it's worth getting commitments on timeline and refund terms in writing first.
Communication issues and repeated missed timelines during hot weather I contacted Pinnacle HVAC when my AC broke down. While I want to note that the receptionist on the phone was kind, the overall scheduling reliability from the company has been frustrating. Initial visit: Called late Friday; tech arrived Tuesday. Diagnosed a faulty part, stating it would be delivered Thursday and fixed Friday. First missed: Friday passed with no repair and no proactive update. I had to call them on Monday to find out what happened, and was told it would be fixed Wednesday. Second missed: Wednesday arrived with still no fix, no part delivery, and no updated ETA. Parts delays happen, but leaving a customer in the heat with false expectation of get fixed soon is quite frustrating.
Very good
Pinnacle are simply the best. Have used other HVAC companies in past with mixed success. Have never had a problem with Pinnacle and Jay and his staff are top notch. Always quick to respond, very professional and always resolve problems quickly. Highly recommend them.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Unfortunately my latest experience with Pinnacle was by far the worst. We went through AHS for a service to replace our central air system. I paid Pinnacle for uncovered costs and they failed to inform me that someone else would need to come out for a final gas connection. WEEKS went by and they were unable to get someone over. I asked for a refund and MONTHS went by before I got it back. Terrible service and poor attitude from Amelia at the front desk. Do not recommend using them they are not responsive and they are terrible to work with.
Very prompt and professional
