CNE Electrical is a Peabody-based electrician whose reviews keep circling back to one thing: it's Chris Ellis who answers the phone, and customers notice. Across 44 Google reviews running from 2022 through this summer, almost all five stars, the pattern isn't one narrow service — it's that when someone calls with a job, from a routine fix to a from-scratch addition, Chris and his crew show up and see it through. Two kinds of jobs come up most. One is panel work: reviewers describe 200A-to-400A service upgrades with new disconnects, main panels and sub panels, and a basement renovation that folded in recessed lighting and new appliance circuits along with the amperage bump. The other is generators — several customers hired CNE specifically for a generator hookup or install, and one reviewer describing a major addition in Essex notes CNE is a Generac Authorized Dealer. Beyond those two, the record includes whole-home rewiring on additions and renovations, a Tesla Wall Connector install, Lutron and Ring wiring folded into a first-floor remodel, and — in a 2025 review — taking over and fixing a previous electrician's shoddy work and bringing it up to code. A handful of reviews come from other contractors and builders, including a general contractor who says he's used CNE 'on numerous customers of mine' with consistent results and Windhill Builders, who called the pricing fair for the work — trade referrals that are harder to fake than a one-off homeowner review. Its Massachusetts electrician license is active, and its BBB profile carries an A+ grade (it isn't a BBB-accredited business, which the grade doesn't require) and lists the company as operating since 2007, a sole proprietorship under Ellis. Before calling, it's worth checking the stated coverage area — the company lists Peabody, Boxford, North Reading, Lowell, Andover, Beverly, Danvers, Lynnfield and several other North Shore towns, so confirm yours is on it. For a panel upgrade, a generator install, or electrical work bundled into a bigger renovation or addition, this is a shop other contractors already send business to. There's little in the record to flag before booking — mainly just confirm the address is in range and get a sense of timing, since crew size on a job seems to flex with its scope.
Prompt service to get our generator hooked up after a power outage. He was helpful for troubleshooting the setup as well
We had a new Sub-Zero fridge installed and needed an outlet placed according to very specific specifications. CNE did a fantastic job! They were very professional, neat and efficient. I really appreciate the quality and would definitely use them again. They were also very nice to my goldendoodle which I also appreciated!
CNE did all of the electrical work for our remodel in North Reading. Very helpful in the planning process and work was done well. The whole crew was courteous and professional. I definitely recommend them.
Can’t say enough great things about CNE Electrical! We did an extensive basement renovation (which included all new electrical, recessed lighting, connecting appliances, and converting from 200 to 400 amps). They took care of all our electrical needs and went above and beyond to make sure it was done properly. Everyone was knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely clean. Would highly recommend!
I had an addition added to my house which included a new master bedroom and bath as well as a garage. Chris and his team were the best! Very professional and extremely detailed. They also needed full access to the entire house while I was out and I never worried once. (I don’t trust many). Any electrical needs I have in the future, I’ll be calling CNE again!
