Lydon Electric is the electrician Peabody homeowners call when something trips, sparks, or just stops working — the reviews here are almost all about diagnosing and fixing a specific problem, not big remodel jobs. Joe Lydon runs the outfit himself out of 27 Dale Street, and his site says he's been doing electrical work for more than 35 years, though the exact age of the business is fuzzy: his own website dates it to 2009, Manta says 2012, and Angi's listing shows 16 years of experience. The pattern in the reviews is consistent: someone has a stuck breaker or a strange fault, calls Joe, and he's usually out within a day or two to find it. In March, an employee named Danny cleared an unexpected electrical issue in about an hour — Joe then called back afterward just to make sure it was still holding before he'd take payment. In January, a customer's stove kept tripping the breaker whenever the oven and stovetop ran together; Joe tracked it down and fixed it. In April, one homeowner noted that after being brushed off by ruder competitors, Joe took the time to actually understand the problem and apologized, unprompted, for the runaround she'd gotten elsewhere. Google backs this up at scale: 4.9 stars across 32 ratings, and Nextdoor, BestProsInTown, and Expertise.com all independently describe the same thing — professional, friendly, reasonably priced. Before booking, it's worth knowing that the Massachusetts Master Electrician license he lists — #21288A on his own site, #21288 on Angi, expiring mid-2028 — is self-reported and hasn't been checked against the state registry here. And while Google carries real weight, Lydon Electric hasn't picked up a single review yet on Angi or HomeAdvisor, so the record leans heavily on one platform. For a diagnose-and-fix call — a breaker, a dead outlet, a wiring fault after a storm — Joe's the kind of one-man-and-a-helper operation people say they'd call again. Confirm the license status yourself and ask what a bigger job, like a panel upgrade or an EV charger install, would run before committing.

After a frustrating experience calling several other companies where I was met with rudeness and lack of help, I finally found someone who completely changed that experience. Joe was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely cared about helping me. Not only did he take the time to understand the issue, but he also went out of his way to get the job done as quickly as possible. What stood out the most was how he even apologized for the poor experiences I had with other companies, something he didn’t have to do, but it showed his character. It’s rare to come across someone so respectful, responsive, and dedicated to their work. I’m extremely grateful for his help and would highly recommend his services to anyone in need of a reliable electrician. Thank you again for your outstanding service!

I'm so grateful for Lydon Electric! I had an electrical issue come up unexpectedly and Joe was able to come out the next day with one of his employees (Danny), who resolved the issue within an hour or so. Everything has been working perfectly since. What really stood out to me was that Joe called me afterwards to make sure everything was still working before even asking for payment. That level of service is rare, and I would absolutely recommend Lydon Electric to anyone who needs reliable electrical work.

I came across Joe while working at my last employer. Had him come out to fix wiring due to electrical shortage caused by a lightning strike. Did an excellent job. Recently, we had one of his guys come out to install a wired smoke detector in another room so that it would qualify as a 3rd bedroom. He came right out and installed it extremely fast. Good guys, excellent electricians. Prices are extremely reasonable, especially when compared to the big guys. Highly recommend.

I had a time sensitive electrical project and reached out to a few local companies. Joe was not only responsive but by far the most professional. He listened to my concerns, answered all questions, and provided expert advice...even going above and beyond in trying to source a part that we needed for one of our projects. He provided value even before coming out for the project. If you want an electrician that knows his stuff but also clearly cares about people then I highly recommend Joe Lydon.
