The reviews for American Electrical Systems keep circling back to the same kind of job: an EV charger or a whole-house battery that hit a snag mid-install, with the crew staying on it until it worked. The Peabody company currently sits at 4.9 stars from 25 Google ratings, and it's run by John Gill, who lists himself on LinkedIn as president with a focus on EV charging infrastructure, battery storage, and commercial solar. That troubleshooting theme shows up more than once — reviewers describe technical hiccups with newly purchased hardware or charging gear getting worked out rather than shrugged off, and one customer said they came away feeling shown real product options instead of just the priciest one during the quoting process. It holds up across roughly two dozen reviews gathered since 2024, though the sample is still on the smaller side, and a Birdeye listing largely just mirrors the same Google review rather than adding independent voices. Nothing negative turns up in what's public so far, and the work isn't limited to houses — its BuildZoom history shows it's also taken on larger commercial-scale panel and service upgrades. That fits someone whose project is specifically an EV charger, home battery, or solar-adjacent electrical job. Get a firm quote and timeline for the work, and ask for a recent reference or two if it's a big-ticket install.

John Gill was diligent working thru several problems we encountered with the hardware I purchased. This resulted in successful implementation of my whole house battery. Couldn’t be happier.

I learned a lot about the products you install and how you have products that actually meet my needs and I'm not beholden to the big expensive options in order to get a quality solution. I'm very excited to see the estimates and at the possibility of working with AES

There are many pleasures in owning a home that is over a century old. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, the detailing as shown by moldings and wainscoting are some of the the pleasures that one experiences with an old home. One of the not so pleasant aspects of the old home is keeping it up to date. This is especially true with wiring and how the home is able to absorb advances in technology. One such advance is the availability of battery backup power in case of the grid not being available. Researching batteries is challenging as it takes on into the field of chemistry. Different manufacturers of batteries use different chemistries. Some use Li Ion chemistry while others use Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry to name just two chemistries. Given the inherent fire risk with Li ion chemistry we opted a battery brand that uses Li Fe Po (Li iron phosphate) which is less prone to over heating and fire. After much research, we settled on Franklin Whole Home Batteries to provide us with backup power in case of outage and daily power replenished by the sun. The problem was who would install the batteries and integrate them into our existing circuits and solar panels? We were advised to call American Electrical Systems (AES) by Franklin WH. You, the reader likely know, that a good electrician is hard to find a great one near impossible. John Gill and his team at AES happen to be that rare group pf electrical experts i.e. great ones! After installing Franklin WH batteries John noted that our aging and over stuffed main circuit fuse box should be replaced for safety if for no other reason. Even an unskilled observer could see that this was true so we settled on a SPAN fuse box that can be controlled by an app and that also shows how power being used. We did as John suggested. Since our initial battery installation we have added two more batteries to keep up with our growing electrical usage, upgraded old light switches to digital ones controlled by voice, added an EV charger to our garage and upgraded our garage lighting. Throughout this process John and AES has been with us. They are reliable, honest, fairly priced and do an excellent job. To date no job has been to small or large for them to handle. Their work has helped us feel safer and more sure of our electrical supply. They have earned our trust through hard work and competence.
