Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from American Electrical Systems, Inc.. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.

American Electrical Systems has built its Peabody business almost entirely around two things: EV chargers and whole-house battery backups, run by president John Gill. The state registry lists an active Massachusetts electrician license for the company, and the site describes it as focused on EV charging, solar, and battery storage and electrification work rather than general panel-and-outlet jobs. The 21 Google reviews on file, all from 2024 and 2025, back that specialty up with real detail. One 2025 review described a FranklinWH battery backup install where other vendors quoted 4-5 months and couldn't answer technical questions, while John "knew the technical answers in detail" and got the job done in 10 days. Another described canceling a stalled Tesla direct-install contract, then having AES do a site survey, sign a quote the same day, and finish the install 16 days later. A different customer had AES install a car charger and come back two years later to fix a connectivity issue with the same unit. One thing worth knowing: a 2024 review, while calling the install itself good, said the crew left a box and foam behind that the homeowner had to clean up — a specific, real complaint against an otherwise consistent record. For anyone specifically shopping for a home battery or EV charger install rather than routine electrical work, the pattern here — responsive, technically fluent, and faster than competing vendors on the jobs reviewed — is the clearest thing to go on.
John Gill was diligent working thru several problems we encountered with the hardware I purchased. This resulted in successful implementation of my whole house battery. Couldn’t be happier.
I learned a lot about the products you install and how you have products that actually meet my needs and I'm not beholden to the big expensive options in order to get a quality solution. I'm very excited to see the estimates and at the possibility of working with AES
Very experich company company explained every detail that they were doing. Check everything to the post extent for being safe and correct. Brett excellent job. I recommend them to anybody. Fair price. They continue to keep coming until the job is done and done right incorrectly
The American Electrical team, led by John Gill on our installatio, did a great job. The job was done timely and per the estimate. They did the needed work with the town. The installed charger looks fine and works great.
There are many pleasures in owning a home that is over a century old. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, the detailing as shown by moldings and wainscoting are some of the the pleasures that one experiences with an old home. One of the not so pleasant aspects of the old home is keeping it up to date. This is especially true with wiring and how the home is able to absorb advances in technology. One such advance is the availability of battery backup power in case of the grid not being available. Researching batteries is challenging as it takes on into the field of chemistry. Different manufacturers of batteries use different chemistries. Some use Li Ion chemistry while others use Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry to name just two chemistries. Given the inherent fire risk with Li ion chemistry we opted a battery brand that uses Li Fe Po (Li iron phosphate) which is less prone to over heating and fire. After much research, we settled on Franklin Whole Home Batteries to provide us with backup power in case of outage and daily power replenished by the sun. The problem was who would install the batteries and integrate them into our existing circuits and solar panels? We were advised to call American Electrical Systems (AES) by Franklin WH. You, the reader likely know, that a good electrician is hard to find a great one near impossible. John Gill and his team at AES happen to be that rare group pf electrical experts i.e. great ones! After installing Franklin WH batteries John noted that our aging and over stuffed main circuit fuse box should be replaced for safety if for no other reason. Even an unskilled observer could see that this was true so we settled on a SPAN fuse box that can be controlled by an app and that also shows how power being used. We did as John suggested. Since our initial battery installation we have added two more batteries to keep up with our growing electrical usage, upgraded old light switches to digital ones controlled by voice, added an EV charger to our garage and upgraded our garage lighting. Throughout this process John and AES has been with us. They are reliable, honest, fairly priced and do an excellent job. To date no job has been to small or large for them to handle. Their work has helped us feel safer and more sure of our electrical supply. They have earned our trust through hard work and competence.
