Brian Boches has been building on the North Shore long enough that the dates no longer agree with each other. Coastline Construction's own site says he founded it in 1990; the Better Business Bureau records a business start of January 1991; his LinkedIn has him at Coastline since January 1983. However you count it, this is a small Beverly outfit — three employees on the BBB's record — working out of 19 Rezza Road. The work is the full residential range rather than one trade: new custom builds, additions, kitchen and bathroom renovations, siding, windows, site work, porches and decks. That is the shape of a contractor who takes on whole projects and coordinates them, not one who comes out for a single task. The firmest outside marker is the BBB, which grades the company A+ and lists it as accredited since February 2011. Houzz lists a license number, 045576, for the company — that is Houzz's own record rather than a state confirmation, so ask to see the license itself before you hire. What's absent is customers. The Houzz profile carries four posted projects and no reviews, and no homeowner account of a Coastline job is published anywhere else, which is why there's no rating here rather than a guessed one. Two things to sort out on the first call. The BBB profile names a second owner, Christopher Sweeney, alongside Brian Boches, so ask who will actually run your job. And a construction bidding site lists the company as a commercial general contractor while everything else describes residential work — worth confirming that houses are still their day-to-day. Then ask for a handful of recent Beverly-area references, since that is the one thing the public record can't give you.
