Hall Fine Finishes is a Beverly outfit whose public record is thin and dated: just two Google reviews, both posted in 2021, and a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration that the state registry now shows as expired. The fuller of the two reviews is a mixed account from a single condo owner. It credits Jay, the company's principal, with responsive, detail-oriented work on the owner's condo association's broader maintenance — but describes a separate contract to replace windows in the reviewer's own unit that stalled for years (delays from 2022 to 2024, then no response at all from 2024 on) and a deposit that was never returned. A second review, from what reads as a different owner in a similar hundred-year-old historic-district building, describes the opposite experience — the team meeting unexpected maintenance challenges with knowledge and energy and calling the job an A+. With no reviews since 2021 and a lapsed registration, there isn't enough here to say which experience is more typical. Anyone considering Hall Fine Finishes for a window job or unit-level work — as opposed to association-level maintenance — should ask directly about current licensing status and get a firm contract and payment schedule in writing before putting down a deposit.

Updated review: Original review was 5 stars. The work done for our condo association was great Jaywas responsive, punctual, and with an eye toward details. I contracted Jay to replace windows in my unit, which has been plagued by endless delays (2022-2024), and ultimate ghosting (2024 to present). When I asked for a refund of the deposit there no response. Highly disappointed, and out my deposit.
Our hundred year old historic district condominium building requires particular expertise in a variety of areas for proper maintenance and repair. Jay and his team were up to the task, and met each unexpected challenge of this project with knowledge, energy and optimism, even as we felt overwhelmed. They did an A+ job and have been a delight to work with!
