Colantuno & Son Plumbing

Colantuno & Son Plumbing is a West Roxbury-based plumbing outfit run by Nick, whose name comes up personally in nearly every account on file — public building-permit records show Nicholas Colantuno has filed 41 plumbing permits in Boston since 2017, closing 61% of them, with 16 still open. Reviews from 2023 through mid-2026 describe a plumber people call for both emergencies and planned work: broken and tankless water heaters, a rotted pipe in a wall, a clogged drain, a bathroom-renovation mixing valve, and routine fixture swaps. A recurring theme is honesty about scope — a 2023 reviewer said Nick, on assessing a suspected problem, told them service wasn't actually warranted and offered his time at no charge rather than replace parts unnecessarily, and a 2025 reviewer said that after another plumber quoted $15,000 to replace a failed tankless water heater during a cold snap, Nick dropped what he was doing, came right over for a second opinion, and explained what had actually gone wrong. Reviewers across several years also note he goes beyond the immediate fix — registering a new water heater's warranty in a 2026 review, returning after tiling was finished to double-check a mixing valve installation in a 2025 review. The company's Angi profile, covering gas boiler and radiator work, is smaller but also positive, though it notes one reviewer's minor complaint about debris cleanup. Two much older Angi reviews, from 2009 and 2010, described good pricing and on-time work, with one noting a small extra charge from a subcontracted electrician. For a homeowner in the Boston area with an emergency or a planned plumbing job, the record here points to a plumber who explains problems plainly and doesn't oversell the fix — though with 16 open building permits on file, it may be worth asking about the status of any in-progress work.
