Coleman Electric, Inc. is a three-person electrical shop run out of Marstons Mills on Cape Cod, with David Coleman as president and Joan Coleman handling the office. Its Massachusetts master electrician licence, number 17221, is verified active with the state under David E Coleman's own name. The customer record is small but consistent, and it is about Dave personally. A March 2026 reviewer calls him a long-standing "go-to" electrician who works problems out; a September 2024 customer had an addition wired, including a generator transfer switch, and described him arriving on time and keeping them informed through the project. An October 2024 repeat customer — five or six jobs in — said appointments can take a while to get, but that in an emergency Dave was there inside 24 hours, and praised Joan's scheduling. The permit trail says more about the volume than the reviews do: BuildZoom lists 119 permits, with recent service and remodel work in South Dennis, Yarmouth Port, Hyannis and West Yarmouth. That score BuildZoom prints alongside them is derived from permits, not from customers. Two numbers to check before hiring. The company's site advertises "over 20 years", while the BBB file records the business as started in 1986 and lists 40 years — worth asking which they mean. And Google's 4.0 average across four ratings sits below the three five-star reviews it shows, so one rating is pulling it down without a visible explanation. For Cape Cod homeowners wanting a licensed electrician for service work, a generator, or wiring an addition, this is a small owner-run shop with an active state licence and a long permit history. Expect to wait for non-urgent scheduling, and confirm the master and journeyman licence numbers with the state before work starts.
Dave Coleman has been my "go-to" electrician for years. Good guy. Dependable. Very knowledgeable. If you've got an electrical problem...he'll figure it out Highly recommended!!
I have used Dave at Coleman electric, probably five or six times now. Generally, you may have to wait a while to get an appointment, but we used Dave once for an emergency situation and he was there within 24 hours, no questions asked. He is a good electrician, and his wife Joan does the office work and scheduling and she is also very nice and efficient as well.
Coleman Electric Inc has provided quality service with an exceptionally friendly attitude while wiring my addition. An extensive wiring project with a generator transfer switch installed was no issue for Coleman Electric. Dave arrived on time and kept me informed along the entire project. I highly recommend him for you next project.
