An April 2026 customer came home from vacation to resanded hardwood, refinished staircases and — the part they wrote about — a clean house. In September 2023 another couple left the country for a week while two rooms and a set of stairs were refinished, and said they never once worried about it. Dan Tringale is the business. The Better Business Bureau lists Colonial Hardwood Flooring as a sole proprietorship he has run since 1988, with two employees, graded A+ though not accredited. A September 2025 customer described the operating model plainly: he does all the work himself, to exacting standards, and does not sign up for choices he cannot stand behind. The company covers Lexington and the towns around it, doing dustless sanding, refinishing, screening and recoating, repairs and new hardwood installation. Several customers write about the dust, or the lack of it. A May 2024 customer who had used another company before said that one left the house covered floor to ceiling. A January 2024 customer said Dan keeps the job site dust free, and came back without argument to touch up a few areas afterwards. On money and scope the accounts get specific. A December 2024 condo buyer had the floors done before move-in with deep scuffs taken out, at a quote roughly 20 percent below the other one they had, and was told the per-square-foot price upfront. A February 2022 customer had Dan come out to inspect the floors before confirming the quote he had given by email. Another that month said he went room by room and told them some floors were still in good shape and did not need sanding. A third, working to a tight timeline, had the job finished on time at the price originally quoted. He takes the awkward jobs too. An April 2024 customer had him sand and finish an oak floor they had laid themselves, after he walked them through details of the install. In a March 2024 review a homeowner in an 1870 house had the floors screened and re-coated. A May 2023 customer's job was complicated by sections that were already pre-finished. And on a Lexington neighbourhood list in March 2025, a resident wrote that Dan had done their floors during a 2007 remodel and again later for a hallway, bedroom and stairs. Book early: a 2021 customer said they waited for him and it was worth the wait, and a 2022 customer had to be fitted into a busy schedule. Get the per-square-foot number and the finish written into the quote, and if you can, plan the work for a week you are out of the house.
