Colonial Stone

Colonial Stone is a Middleton, Massachusetts stone shop that says it's a family-run business with 15-plus years fabricating and installing quartz, granite, marble and quartzite countertops, with its own in-house fabrication and installation team. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active and verified, and owner Rose Silva is named in review after review as the person driving the design and material selection. Most of the 21 reviews on file, spanning 2021 through this year, describe exactly that: a homeowner picks a slab, gets it measured, and has it installed within days, often on budget and at a competitive price. One customer needed a granite filler piece to fit a new stove into a 10-year-old counter cutout, and a matching custom backsplash; Rose found a piece that matched and the seams came out inconspicuous, a level of care the reviewer called out specifically. Others describe quick response times, tight installation windows kept on time, and a crew that's polite and neat on the job. Two reviews describe the opposite experience with the fine-detail work the company is known for. A November 2024 review calls a granite fireplace surround a serious disappointment, saying the finish work wasn't up to the standard the company advertises. And a September 2023 review, after an otherwise fast quartz install, describes veining that didn't line up across the seams once the crew had left. Both are specific about the same kind of problem, precision on custom cuts and fitted pieces, rather than isolated one-off gripes, so it's worth asking directly to see finished photos of comparable work, especially for a fireplace surround or another intricate custom piece, before committing. For a straightforward countertop swap, the volume of detailed, positive reviews points to a shop that delivers reliably and fast. For anything more architectural or detail-heavy, ask to see examples first.
