Colonial Stone is a countertop shop, not a whole-room remodeler — a distinction worth holding onto. It fabricates and installs quartz, granite, marble and quartzite from a showroom at 189 North Main Street in Middleton, and the company describes itself as a family business with more than 15 years in the stone market. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 215302, is active in the state registry under Colonial Stone Inc. Speed is what customers keep describing. One reviewer writing in May 2024 picked a slab, had it measured the same day and installed two days later, with a narrow arrival window the crew actually kept. Another, in August 2025, put it as fast turnaround, on budget. Rose Silva, named as the owner in a July 2024 review, appears by name in most of the positive accounts — usually for the material selection and design side rather than the install. The most useful thing in the whole record is a July 2024 account of a repair job: a homeowner replacing a slide-in stove needed a filler piece cut into ten-year-old granite, and Rose found a matching remnant and had the counters reworked, backsplash included, so the seam did not read. That is a harder problem than a fresh install, and it is the clearest evidence of what this shop can do. The two negatives are both about finish quality, and both deserve weight. In November 2024 a customer who commissioned a granite fireplace frame called the result a terrible job and said the shop was not qualified for fine detail work, posting photos. In September 2023, a quartz customer found the veining did not line up across seams, was offered a leftover cutting board as the only remedy, never received it, and said their texts went unanswered after that — while still calling the price very fair. Read together, those two are a pattern worth taking seriously: fast, well-priced work with a real risk of seam and detail problems, and follow-up that thinned once the job was done. Ask to see slab layout and seam placement drawings before they cut, and get the remedy for a mismatched seam agreed in writing. And if your project is a full bathroom or kitchen renovation rather than the countertops in one, you will still need a general contractor — this is the stone piece of that job.

I had a fantastic experience working with Colonial Stone Marble Collector! Their selection of unique stone and marble pieces is unlike anything I’ve seen in the Minneapolis area — truly one-of-a-kind. The staff were knowledgeable and took the time to explain the history and quality behind each item, which made the buying process feel special. My order was handled professionally from start to finish and arrived exactly as described. You can tell they care about craftsmanship and customer service. Highly recommend to anyone looking for rare and beautiful stone pieces — I’ll definitely be coming back for future projects!
