Eighteen ratings, all of them five stars, and the same two words keep surfacing across them: clean and on time. David Cooper Electrician is a small Methuen shop working residential, commercial and industrial jobs across the Merrimack Valley, and the company says it has been at it for about 20 years. Its Massachusetts electrician license, number 23691, is active. That matters more than any badge a directory hands out, and it lines up with what the Board of State Examiners of Electricians shows. The Better Business Bureau grades the profile A+, though the business is not BBB-accredited, and BBB records it as a sole proprietorship started in 2003 with two employees, run by owner David Cooper. It is also listed as a Methuen Chamber of Commerce member. The work people hire them for spans the full residential range: household wiring, panel and subpanel work, recessed and fixture lighting, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, appliance and pool wiring, low-voltage phone and data jacks, home theatre, and smart-home programming. Reviewers describe both small service calls and multi-room renovations, and several are repeat customers or trade partners rather than one-time homeowners — the kind of history that is hard to manufacture. Two things are worth pinning down before booking. This is a two-person operation by BBB's own record, so ask how a larger job would be staffed and scheduled. And while the Massachusetts license checks out, New Hampshire licensing is the company's own claim on its website, not something confirmed against that state's registry — worth verifying directly if the job is over the line. Good fit for a homeowner who wants one electrician for both the nuisance repairs and a planned lighting or panel project, and who values a tidy job site. Confirm scope, timeline and the current license status with the state board before work starts.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. And to say Dave went above and beyond would be an understatement. He made himself available, during a winter storm, to diagnose an electrical issue that helped restore heat to our home. I found him to be communicative, on-time, and able to explain issues and solutions in plain English. Highly recommended!

Dave and his team did a great job on 2 electrical projects. I needed a new subpanel and disconnect to support a new hot tub installation. I also needed some switches moved to support a new closet with a new light. Dave is easy to work with and kept me informed throughout the process. They had to run a new line out to the hot tub and had to work through a finished ceiling and outside walls. The work looks great and they left everything perfectly clean. I was so satisfied that I even brought Dave to my brothers house as he was looking to upgrade his main panel and to add a new subpanel. My brother was also impressed with Dave’s evaluation of his current panel and options that could be considered. He plans on going forward with Dave. I highly recommend Dave for your next electrical project- whether big or small!

David Cooper and team handled three projects at my home. Removal of electrical done by others, installation of new exterior outlets and remediation of live knob & tube wiring. On all three projects the work was done as quoted and scheduled quickly. Dave clearly explained areas of concern to manage my expectations of cost and the length of time to complete the projects. Team arrived on time, finished early and provided recommendations for other electrical improvements. Highly recommended.

I found Dave Cooper by reading Google reviews and they were very accurate. Dave is a true professional and a wonderful electrician! He responded to my message immediately and we had the project scheduled and completed within days of my initial call. I hired Dave to install some outdoor light fixtures for me. He was a perfectionist in his work and they look beautiful. In addition to his electrical skills, Dave is the kindest person and goes the extra mile to help. I feel very blessed that I found Dave Cooper and will continue to use him for all my electrical needs.
