Dennis Murphy Painting has been repainting rooms on Cape Cod under the name Dennis Murphy Painting & Decorating, working out of Dennis, MA. The company's own directory listings put its experience at 50 years in the trade; the oldest customer review on file dates to 2005, and reviews keep coming in a steady trickle through the two decades since. What's striking is how consistent the story stays across three unconnected platforms. In a December 2025 Google review, a homeowner said a first-floor repaint "turned out fantastic," with everything "put back in place like he was never here." In a 2021 Angi review, a customer who arranged an entire condo repaint remotely from out of state called the result "a beautiful job, at a highly competitive price" — echoing a 2020 HomeAdvisor review that called the pricing "more than fair." Across all 27 reviews on file, only a handful land at 4 or 4.5 stars rather than 5, and not one describes a job gone wrong. The recurring themes are the same everywhere: Dennis (sometimes with a helper) shows up on schedule, protects furniture and flooring, and sticks to the original estimate even when extra work turns up. Two things worth asking about before booking. A 2012 HomeAdvisor review noted Dennis ran "a bit more expensive than other painters," though the same review still called the finished work excellent. And Massachusetts' registry shows the company's home improvement contractor license, #157220, as expired — worth confirming directly before signing anything. The company's HomeAdvisor profile also advertises Spanish-speaking service. The written record thins out after 2022 — aside from the December 2025 Google review, most of the praise dates from 2005 through 2021 — but it holds up remarkably evenly across that whole span rather than clustering in one burst. This is a fit for a homeowner who wants a small, hands-on crew for interior rooms, condo turnovers, or repair-heavy jobs like spackling, trim, and wallpaper removal rather than a large production painting outfit — just confirm the license status and get a written estimate first.

Had Dennis paint my first floor, it was alot of work and it turned out fantastic. When he was done everything was put back in place like he was never here!!
Professional, meticulous, quality work, reasonably priced and dependable.
We are more than satisfied with the workmanship and professionalism. It’s not often you find a contractor that starts when they say they’ll start, finish the job when they say they will and charge you the amount of the quote. Dennis and team checked all of those boxes. Thank you! We will definitely call you for future painting needs.
Excellent work, arrived on time, pleasant to work with. Would hire again.
Dennis and his crew painted our entire condo before we moved in. Ceilings, trim, baseboard heaters, doors...the works. They also had some damaged areas to patch and finish, all of which look great. We set this up remotely, from another state, and Dennis was great about delivering prompt estimates and making useful suggestions to streamline the project. They did a beautiful job, at a highly competitive price. I’d recommend Dennis and his crew to anyone.
