Designs by Gia is not the firm you call for one fixture — it takes the whole project. Gia Milazzo Smith runs it herself, and the company's own description is design plus build: she draws the plan, then coordinates the contractors who carry out whole-home and single-room renovations across Massachusetts and New Hampshire, with design-only work handled remotely for clients further afield. She says she grew up around the work, in a family that renovated and flipped houses, and has spent over twenty years in the industry as an interior designer and renovator. The site puts no founding year on the business itself. The written customer record is short: two Google reviews, both five stars. The longer one, from May 2025, describes a whole-house job — furniture, artwork and colour pulled together with the homeowner's own pieces, and a dark kitchen opened up with its cabinets repainted white. A February 2023 reviewer credited the crew as much as the designer, describing the people she works with as polite and hard-working. Beyond those two accounts, most of what exists about the firm is trade press rather than customers. CooperatorNews quoted her in February 2021 as the founder of a Massachusetts interior design firm, and describes the practice as serving condominium and co-op associations across New England; a 2016 post about a Newburyport coastal show house credited her with its blue-and-white front sitting room. With two written accounts on file, treat them as a starting point rather than a verdict. The firm's own description splits a job in two — the design, then the coordination of the contractors who build it — so ask which parts of your renovation her team runs directly and which go to outside trades, and ask for references from a project close in size to your own.
