Desmond Tech is a Dorchester company built around one specialism: putting security cameras onto buildings that already exist, which is the fiddly version of the job. Around that sit audio-visual rooms, smart-home controls, server racks and home entertainment installs, for large residential buildings, commercial spaces, churches and outdoor shopping malls. The company says Dennis Desmond is a 2015 Wentworth Institute of Technology graduate in electromechanical engineering who has installed over 100 cameras around Boston homes and businesses, that Moriah Desmond runs the finances, hiring and day-to-day operations, and that the business is "partly owned and operated by our master electrician" — someone it says has more than ten years in the Boston electrical trade. It also states it holds the Massachusetts S-Licence required to install and maintain security systems. That is the company's own claim rather than something confirmed against the registry here, and HomeAdvisor separately lists a trade licence number, SS-002537, expiring September 2026, under its own note that such statements are self-reported. The customer record is small and old: four HomeAdvisor reviews, all five stars, all posted between January and May 2019. The fullest, from January 2019, describes a $600 job — the installer replied fastest, came when he said he would, bought the materials upfront, walked the customer through the plan, mounted the TV, routed the electrical through the wall and cleaned up the dust and drywall afterwards. Two others that month name Dennis for punctuality and for tidying up after finishing. Something more recent comes from a different direction. In December 2025 the City of Boston named Desmond Tech among the graduates of its SCALE programme at the first Scaled Impact Celebration, as reported by the Boston Sun; a City economic-opportunity post in February 2026 described the company as a certified minority-owned business enterprise with the City. Practical notes before you call: HomeAdvisor lists a $200 minimum service charge and "Se habla espanol", and shows weekday-only hours while also claiming emergency service. Ask for jobs finished in the last year — the written reviews are seven years old — and ask which licence covers your particular install.
