DryZone Basement Systems is a Bridgewater-based waterproofing company — one review describes it as "the local All Things Basementy provider" — and the volume of detailed, named-technician reviews (509 on file, going back to 2016) points to a large, well-organized operation. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and it's been a BBB Accredited Business, with an A+ grade, since 2008. The specifics are consistently concrete: crews installing proprietary systems — TrenchDrains, UltraSump pumps, WaterGuard channels, exterior discharge lines — in basements and crawl spaces, often finishing a full waterproofing job in one to two days. Reviews describe genuinely difficult conditions handled well, including a 113-year-old house with a fieldstone foundation and buried debris in the crawl space. Multiple customers describe using the company more than once at different properties, and specific technicians come up repeatedly across years — one customer has requested the same technician, Curtis Bess, for annual inspections for years running. What to know before calling: a June 2026 review describes a badly handled crawlspace cleanout, alleging the crew laid new vapor barrier material directly over ground the sales pitch had promised would be cleaned first — a serious complaint about not delivering the scope that was sold. A separate April 2026 review describes repeated trouble getting a callback to schedule an initial appointment. And a 2023 review criticizes the sales process itself — a thick mailed brochure, no emailed proposal, and a verbal on-site quote of $20,000 with, in that customer's account, no documentation to back it up. These are a small minority against a long, detailed record of praise — the company's own recent activity shows two negative reviews against roughly 75 positive ones in the last six months — but a job this size, often running into the thousands of dollars, is worth getting a written, itemized proposal for regardless of how the sales visit goes. DryZone looks like a strong option for basement or crawl space water problems that need a proprietary drainage or pump system rather than a patch job, especially in an old house with real structural quirks. Getting a firm written quote before signing is good practice with any company at this price point, and doubly so given at least one account here where that step reportedly didn't happen.
Worst Contractor Experience Ever – Avoid DryZone Basement Systems / All Things Basementy I had the single most egregious contractor experience of my life with DryZone Basement Systems (the local All Things Basementy provider) on my Massachusetts property. I hired them to clean out my crawlspace, which had an older vapor barrier, and upgrade it to a new vapor barrier system. Their sales pitch and materials specifically promised that the space would be thoroughly cleaned before any new material was installed. On the first day the crew began laying the new vapor barrier directly over the existing dirt, debris, and old vapor barrier without cleaning anything. I immediately stopped the project and contacted management to request a different crew that would actually do the job properly. Management convinced me to give them another chance and promised they would send a project manager to be on site the whole day on day two while the crew cleaned. What actually happened is that the project manager was only there for about 20 minutes. While the crew was supposedly cleaning out the old material, they only cleaned a small section and then covered up all the remaining old debris and old vapor barrier with the new material — doing exactly what I had already complained about on day one and had been assured would not happen. To make matters worse, the crew spray-foamed rodent bait stations directly into the side of my house. It was obvious this was done deliberately and in a retaliatory, vindictive manner after I had complained and stopped their work. At that point I fired them. I lost my entire $6,000 deposit and had to hire another crew to rip out everything they had done. The cost to remove their improper work and start over was more than the original contract amount. I ultimately had the crawlspace properly cleaned and the vapor barrier upgrade completed correctly through the Mass Save program. This company showed zero respect for the homeowner’s instructions, broke their promises about oversight, and acted dishonestly even after management got involved. I told them in no uncertain terms that they would never be allowed back on my property again. Strong recommendation: Do not use DryZone Basement Systems or any All Things Basementy contractor under any circumstances. They charge double the competition (or more) while promising quality but delivering substandard work. If you need crawlspace cleaning, vapor barrier upgrade, or encapsulation work, hire a dedicated cleanup/restoration crew separately (Servpro or equivalent) to get the space truly clean and ready, then have the new vapor barrier installed through Mass Save or a reputable local contractor. You will save yourself an enormous amount of money and avoid massive frustration. This was by far the worst contractor experience I have ever had. Learn from my mistake.
MJ (Marcellus), AB and the crew just finished up waterproofing our basement. They installed TrenchDrains, UltraSump, an exterior discharge line, wall system and waterguard. The job was done meticulously in two days. The basement was left spotless. The system was explained thoroughly. MJ and AB were thoughtful and accommodating throughout the install. That is what customer service is all about. Thank you!
Excellent job. Very professional! Kept work area orderly and clean.
Very satisfied with the whole project outcome. The guys who did the work were extremely efficient, professional, and hard working. Would not hesitate to refer them.
We are very happy with our new sump pump install. Tomas Ajanel Pol and his “1st Stop” team were great - professional and friendly, worked quickly, and left everything just as tidy as when they arrived. This gives us peace of mind.
