In New Bedford, Hammer Basement Waterproofing is the call for a flooding basement, a cracked foundation wall, or a sump pump that's given out. Owner Emilio Hernandez runs the business himself, per the company's own site, and shows up on quotes and stays through the work. BBB records list the company as open since 2019 — seven years now — with an A+ accreditation on file. The last six months brought ten Google reviews, all five stars and none of them negative. In June, a homeowner whose basement was taking on water through an old dry well got a free estimate from Emilio, who walked through the actual options instead of steering straight to a sump pump. That pattern shows up again in a May job: he came back after real flooding, decided a sump pump wasn't the fix after all, and instead drilled a few relief holes in the slab at no charge. Another May reviewer's basement turned out to be a bigger job than expected — moldy material pulled out, a French drain installed, the whole space waterproofed. A March review describes a separate French drain job finished in about four hours ahead of a weekend storm, with the basement staying dry through the rain that followed. It's the same story across the 158 reviews Hammer has picked up since 2021 from five different sources, with Google itself sitting at a full 5.0 average. The company describes itself as licensed and insured, with a transferable lifetime warranty on the systems it installs — worth asking to see in writing, since that's a self-reported claim rather than something verified here. It's also a small, hands-on operation: several reviews describe Emilio working jobs alongside his wife, so plan on dealing with him directly rather than an office. For basement water problems in the New Bedford/South Coast area — a wet crawlspace, a failing sump pump, a wall that's letting water in — Hammer's five years of steady five-star reviews across independent sources make it worth a call; just get the warranty and licensing details confirmed before work starts.

We called Hammer Basement when our basement was flooding due to an old “dry well/sump pump/hole in the ground” started to flood our basement. Emilio came over to provide a free estimate. Emilio was beyond helpful and informative, taking the time to explain our options and what he thought our issue was. We ended up having our basement utility sink also filling with water which he explained indicated we likely had a blockage somewhere and likely wouldn’t need a sump pump installed. He was honest, straightforward, and had no intention of trying to talk us into a sump pump if it wasn’t necessary. He referred us to a plumber (Jay Rooter- also great!), who took care of the blockage. Emilio easily could have told us a million different things and gotten us to spend some money, but he didn’t. If the day ever comes when we actually need a sump pump, he’s the guy I’m calling. Thank you Emilio, for your time, expertise and kindness. I highly recommend giving Hammer Basement a call!!!

We are so glad that we went with Hammer Basement! Emilio was quick to respond and showed up when he said he would. Everyone is such a pleasure to deal with. Our basement ended up being a nasty mess to fix and a bigger job than we expected, It was sooo much better after the crew removed all the moldy material and installed a French drain and waterproofed! You won’t regret calling Hammer to help with your basement!

Emilio from Hammer Basement Waterproofing was great to work with. He originally quoted us a fair price for a sump pump solution, but after coming back when we actually had water in the basement, he reevaluated the issue and realized a sump pump might not even be necessary. Instead of pushing unnecessary work, he offered a simpler solution at no cost by drilling a few holes in the concrete slab, and it seems to have worked. It seemed like he was truly looking to help rather than pressure us into a sale. We really appreciated his transparency and would absolutely recommend him.

Emilio and his team were fantastic! Super easy to work with, great communication, and they took the time to explain everything clearly throughout the process. They got us a quote quickly, scheduled the work fast, and the service was excellent from start to finish. They kept everything clean while they were here, and the final product looks so neat and professional. Couldn’t be happier — highly recommend!
