E.M. Snow, Inc. works out of 971 Main St in Waltham and holds Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration 103258, verified active against the state registry. It is primarily a siding company that also does roofing, windows, doors, gutters and decking, for houses, condominiums and commercial buildings across eastern Massachusetts. The Better Business Bureau, which has accredited it since 1979, records a business start of January 1967, 59 years in business, six employees and president Douglas E Snow; BuildZoom counts 1,826 permitted projects, 122 of them in the past three years. Owner involvement is the most repeated theme. Doug Snow shows up to quote — a 2026 roofing customer said he came the next day and priced the job on the spot, and a 2024 window customer described the same speed on eleven windows. Office manager Lauren, supervisor Mike and team leader Wilbur are named again and again for keeping people informed; a 2024 Somerville triple-decker owner having Hardie plank installed credited Lauren with closing out the permit and the fastest replies they had experienced. The workmanship stories are specific. A 2026 customer had a two-storey back deck rebuilt, a front deck replaced and the whole house re-sided with blown-in insulation. A 2026 siding crew worked through two snowstorms on a house full of arches and odd angles, then returned after the melt for a final clean-up. A 2023 customer with a 100-year-old house watched the crew replace rotted boards found under the old shingles and spend nearly four hours precision-fitting new chimney flashing. The record is not uniform, and the complaints cluster on what happens after the job. A 2025 reviewer found rotting where siding met the chimney on work done twelve years earlier, was told by several other professionals it was an installation defect, and was refused help because the ten-year warranty had expired. A 2022 reviewer said a roof began leaking four years in, the company would not come to look, and the shingle manufacturer judged the roof incorrectly installed. A 2022 three-star reviewer praised the siding work but spent months chasing a doorbell the crew removed, left with exposed wiring over a winter. A 2022 two-star long-term review lists mismatched shingles around a new skylight, window frames in the wrong colour and an uncaulked balcony slider that leaked into the ceiling below. A 2022 one-star account describes a crew arriving three hours late, working after dark and failing to tarp half the house. Google averages 4.4 across 54 ratings, and the last six months on file are uniformly positive. For siding — particularly Hardie plank or a complicated elevation — this is a deep, long-tenured bench. “We got ours redone by EM Snow recently- was quick, high quality, and affordable!”
I wanted to take a moment to share our outstanding experience with E.M. Snow, Inc. We hired them to completely rebuild a large, two-story back deck, replace a front deck, and re-side our entire home, including blown-in insulation. From start to finish, the entire E.M. Snow, Inc. team was nothing short of exceptional. They were professional, courteous, friendly, and communicative, making it a pleasure to have them working around our property. Their attention to detail was evident in the care they took each day to clean up, and they provided valuable advice when decisions needed to be made throughout the process. Moreover, the respect they showed to our surrounding neighbors was commendable—traits you hope for in a contractor but often find lacking. E.M. Snow, Inc. not only met but exceeded our expectations for this project. We would absolutely consider them for any future needs and highly recommend their services!
Responsive, easy to deal with, great install crew, great product, cleaned the site completly and a great price. I called, Doug came the next day gave me quote on the spot and 2 weeks later I have a brand new roof. Looks outstanding.
E.M.Snow just completed Harvey basement windows, siding on two story house and new gutters. The guys that were here every day did an amazing job, answered my questions with a smile and worked harder every day to make the project look great. If you need siding, this is the company you want to go with!
We had a fantastic experience working with this window installation company from start to finish. Scheduling was quick and easy—they were able to come out promptly to take measurements, and we received our quotes in a very timely manner. Communication throughout the process was excellent. Once the windows arrived, they kept us well informed and were flexible in coordinating scheduling. We also really appreciated how they worked directly with our tenants, making the process smooth and minimally disruptive for everyone involved. This was a large project—almost an entire 1910 home with original windows—and their team handled it efficiently and professionally. The installation itself was impressive; they completed the work in just two days and left everything in great condition. One of the things we appreciated most was their transparency and reliability on pricing. The final cost matched the original quote exactly, with no change orders or surprises, which gave us a lot of confidence in their integrity. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the results and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of window installation.
E.M. Snow installed all of the vinyl siding for the our entire home, which has lots of arches and weird angles. The crew worked through 2 snowstorms, and frigid weather to complete the job in a timely manner. And then they came back after the snow melted to do a final clean up of the grounds. The crew was really hardworking and neat. Steve and all of the management team were incredibly responsive to all of our questions and picky tweaks, and personally consulted with us multiple times to make sure we were satisfied with the job as it unfolded. We would highly recommend them.
