Egan Electric Corp is a South Yarmouth, MA electrical contractor run by Master Electrician Jim Egan, who reports close to 30 years in business. The company works residential, commercial, and municipal jobs, based centrally on Cape Cod and also serving a separate cluster of towns in Central Massachusetts including Hopkinton, Framingham, and Natick. Google reviewers who hired Egan Electric describe a consistent pattern: Jim shows up on time, communicates clearly, and leaves the job site clean. One customer, a client since 2008, has had him back repeatedly for electrical panel replacements, a full bathroom, a half bath, a kitchen, a shed, indoor/outdoor speakers, and most recently an enclosed porch — the kind of repeat business that signals reliable, ongoing trust rather than one good visit. Other reviewers describe him hardwiring smoke and CO detectors in a 70-plus-year-old home ahead of a sale, installing a transformer alongside a Ring doorbell and recessed lighting, and wiring new appliances and recessed lights during a kitchen renovation. His Massachusetts Master Electrician license (#20668) is verified active in the state registry, held under James M. Egan — matching the Jim Egan named as owner throughout the site and reviews, so this is a real, current credential rather than a directory-listed claim. There isn't much here to flag as a concern: the review record is a small sample — four Google reviews, all five stars — but each one describes a specific, distinct job rather than reading as generic praise, and the license checks out cleanly. One quirk worth noting: the company's own site prints its license number two different ways ('20668' on the homepage, '20668-A' on the About page); the registry match is against 20668. Egan Electric Corp reads as a solid, established electrical operation for Cape Cod homeowners who need panel work, lighting, appliance wiring, or general electrical troubleshooting, with a licensed electrician doing the work himself and a track record of customers who keep calling him back. Anyone outside his core Cape Cod base should confirm he covers their specific town before booking.
We are selling our house and local code requires all smoke/CO detectors be hard wired. Jim Egan took on the challenge of doing this in our 70+ year old home, and did a fantastic job. He was, efficient, friendly, and professional in every way. The installation was clean, he left the workspace spotless, and he was able to get it done in a timely manner. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with him and his work, and I highly and without reservation recommend him to anyone who needs electrical work done. Thank you Jim. Dave Melvin Hopkinton, MA
We have been working with Jim from Egan Electric since 2008. Always reliable, helpful and we call him for all our house improvements. So far he’s done new electrical panels, a new full bathroom, new 1/2 bath, new kitchen, new shed, indoor outdoor speakers and the latest is our new enclosed porch. I’m so fortunate to know we can call him for anything. We highly recommend him.
Excellent Electrician We recently hired Egan Electrical to install a transformer as well as a Ring doorbell, recessed lighting, and fix several electrical issues. From the start, Jim was professional, punctual, and communicative. He took the time to assess the problem carefully and explain the solution clearly. Throughout the entire process, he was respectful of our home, making sure to leave the area clean. He also ensured that everything was up to code and safe. What really stood out was Jim's attention to detail, the quality of his work and that he went above and beyond to determine where best to install an outside flood light by unscrewing a plywood board covering the entrance to a crawl space for the attic. Pricing was fair, and Jim made sure to explain all costs upfront, so there were no surprises. Overall, I highly recommend Egan Electrical for any electrical work you may need.
We recently renovated our Cape home, including a new kitchen, and hired Egan Electric for the job. They installed new appliances, a cooktop stove, and several recessed lights in two rooms. Jim was great to work with throughout the entire process—easy to communicate with and very accommodating. The team was punctual, and they made sure to clean up after completing the work. The results were fantastic. Thanks again, Jim! I’d definitely recommend Egan Electric and would use them again in the future.
