Verified record
J.C. Ellis Design Co., Inc. is a North Eastham firm offering septic system design and planning, per its Better Business Bureau listing. Reviews identify the engineer behind the work as Jason Ellis. The business is not BBB-accredited but carries a BBB letter grade of A+. The written record is dominated by accounts of money paid upfront with no completed work. A 2022 Google review says the reviewer paid $3,000 for septic design and never heard back, calling the business a "crook." A separate, undated BBB review describes a $1,000 deposit for a new-well plan still outstanding fifteen months after a contracted 2-3 week turnaround. A December 2025 Google review separately reports chronic non-communication and "zero concern for customers." Google's own aggregate reflects this pattern: 2.3 out of 5 from 3 ratings. The one dissenting account is a June 2025 Google review praising reliability and local permitting knowledge - but the reviewer describes working alongside Jason on real-estate listings, reading more like a professional referral relationship than a typical hired-homeowner project. Anyone considering this firm for septic design or land-surveying work should get a firm delivery timeline in writing and confirm current capacity before paying a deposit. The recurring theme across three separately sourced accounts spanning 2022 through late 2025 is money collected with no subsequent contact or completed plans.
Terrible communication skills. Zero concern for customers. I recommended literally anyone else unless you like to be tormented by chronic non-communication.
Jason is always reliable and works well with sellers on a tight schedule. Being a local engineer Jason knows his way around local municipalities and gets it right the first time. I work with Jason on properties I have listed and my clients are happy with his work.
used for septic design, paid $3,000 up front, never heard back from Jason Ellis, completely ripped us off, BEWARE OF THIS GUY. ABSOLUTE CROOK.
Sent $1000 deposit to Ellis Design for plan for new well that the contract said would be done in 2-3 weeks. That was 15 months ago.
