Five bedrooms, a downstairs foyer, a stairwell and a lounge area — all carpeted in one Saturday. That was a July 2026 job, and it is the model working the way it is meant to: a rep brings samples to your living room, measures and quotes in the one visit, and a crew comes out to install. Empire Today is a national shop-at-home flooring retailer handling carpet, hardwood, laminate, vinyl and tile, and the Boston-area operation runs out of Randolph, listing Boston, Auburn and Manchester as its service area. On Google it averages 4.3 across 1,701 ratings. What customers write about is individuals. Seven of the Google reviews name one salesperson, David Homsi — samples spread out on the table, no push, and at least one household having him back for a second carpet job. On the install side, Daniel turns up in seven July reviews, usually with a partner named Luciano or Junior. One of those crews took out the old rugs, carpeted an entire upstairs, put everything back in order and cleaned the areas before they left; another pair, Edgar and his brother, worked two long days on a customer's new floors. The unhappy reviews are specific, and they are mostly about two things. The first is the clock. A July 2026 customer had a crew arrive five hours late and work until 11 p.m., short on carpet, with part of the stairway installed crooked — that same person called the flooring installation itself very good. A July 2026 buyer says a salesman's promise that scratches were 100% covered turned out not to be true, and that the vinyl plank is cracking and moving in a color the company no longer carries. In a February 2025 review, a customer said the installers failed to measure properly, leaving uneven coloring and wood pattern, and that pointing it out to them got no response. This is a sensible call if you want carpet or vinyl picked from samples at your own kitchen table, measured and quoted in one visit, and installed soon after. Before signing, get the arrival window and the scratch coverage in writing, ask who you call and how long it takes if something is wrong after the install, and know that one July 2026 customer found the final payment call — card details asked for out of the blue — awkward enough that he had the sales rep validate it first.
