A customer who called this July about pipes had a technician, Will, at the door inside an hour — kind, they said, walked them through what needed doing, and worked around what they could afford to spend. Speed is what ER Services runs on, and it keeps coming up: a Saturday call in July where they beat the other shop on both price and arrival window, a washer drain diagnosed and fixed the same day, a dead air conditioner running again before the day was out.
ER Services Plumbing and Heating is based in North Andover and says it covers Lawrence, Methuen, Andover, Lowell and the towns around them, doing plumbing, heating, cooling, drain and water-heater work for homes and businesses. Its Massachusetts plumbing licence, 16894-PL-M, is active on the state registry, and the state's Supplier Diversity Office lists it as a certified Minority Business Enterprise through April 2028.
The written history is deep: 401 reviews since 2021 across six sites, a 4.8-star Google average from 497 ratings, 4.4 on Thumbtack from 169 and 4.5 on Angi from 17. Customers name the technicians — Mario, Luiz, Jason, Matt, Jake, Will — and describe the same working style. Options and prices laid out before anything starts, an explanation of what is being done, the site left clean. One customer in July was given three estimates for different depths of drain clearing and shown video of the pipes before and after. Another, whose air conditioner three other companies had already looked at, one of them wanting to replace the whole unit, said ER repaired it instead.
The complaints are almost all about the bill. Around $900 for ninety minutes of drain snaking in June. A thousand dollars for a garbage disposal replacement in July. A bathtub clog quoted at $1,000 and talked down to $750 in January — and that customer said they could not get an estimate before the plumber arrived. On Angi, a June reviewer called a sewer inspection and line cleaning very expensive and told others to watch the pricing. One July customer put a policy behind the number: they said they had to buy a $500 line cleaning or the disposal work would not be warrantied.
A couple of complaints are not about money. In May a customer said the technician, Christian, worked hard across four return visits and stayed positive, and that the trouble was how the company handled the job. In June another described an argument after a technician parked in the handicap space in front of the house; the office later told them that man no longer works there.
For a leak, a clog or a heating call you need answered today, this is a shop with enough technicians on the road to actually show up. Get the estimate in writing before the truck rolls, and ask what the warranty requires you to buy alongside the repair.
