Federal Glass & Mirror traces its start to Waltham in 1948, according to the company's own BBB description, and moved to Rt. 9 in Framingham in 1950. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active on the state registry. The company holds an A+ grade with the Better Business Bureau. In a February 2026 Google review, a customer who hired Federal to fix a window broken on a job site wrote that "Mike and his crew did an amazing job": knowledgeable about the options, a reasonable lead time, and cheaper than the other quotes they received. In May 2026, a customer came in for a replacement window-screen frame and said they had the correct frame and "the price was just right." A 2024 review praised custom glass for a coffee table that "was ready in just one week," and a 2021 reviewer recommended them "for windows, shower doors, etc." Follow-through is where the complaints land. In a June 2025 review, a customer who accepted a quote for a broken garage window got two weeks of silence, then apologies, and says they never heard back. A second June 2025 reviewer dropped a home window replacement after the woman on the phone hung up on them during a misunderstanding about a deposit. In an October 2024 review, a customer waited three weeks for an appointment, said the worker never showed up, and then got an estimate for a window that did not match the size of theirs. On Google it holds 4.3 stars from 34 ratings.
I came looking for a replacement frame for a window screen. Very pleasant attendant, they had the correct frame and the price was just right. Will come back.
I hired Federal to fix a window one of my team members broke on a job site, and Mike and his crew did an amazing job. They were knowledgeable about all the available options, had a reasonable lead time, and came in cheaper than the other quotes we received. Highly recommend.
Tried to work with Federal Glass for a window replacement at my home. Ultimately the attitude received from the woman on the phone turned me off to proceeding with the order. On one of the calls she went as far as hanging up on me (at no point were voices raised - I just voiced that I didn't understand why I was being given so much attitude for a misunderstanding regarding a deposit). Super disappointed by the experience and super shocked by the lack of kindness frankly from one human to another.
I contacted Federal Glass for a quote to fix a broken garage window. After emailing pictures of the window and answering questions, I received a quote, which I accepted. From then on, it was radio silence for 2 weeks. When I called them, they apologized and said that they'd put it 'on the top of the stack' for the installer to call me. Another week goes by and nothing. I called back again, and asked them about it. They said they were sorry and would look into it. I requested them to just tell me straight up if they're could not do the work or did not want to do the job so that I could look else where. Again nothing. Till date, I have not heard back. I assume they are having operational issues and would not go back to them again. I ended up using Clarity Glass & Mirror in Natick and couldn't have been happier that I did. Clarity fixed the window within a few days, and did it for a much better price that what Federal quoted. If you're looking for help with glass/mirror/window work, I'd recommend reaching out to Clarity. They're old-school and do honest and clean work!
Federal Glass has done work in our store and it was spectacular. I'm just about to get a quote for a second job. Highly recommend!
