Fidalgo Floors

I cannot say enough great things about Fidalgo Floors! Gerard was easy to get in touch with and able to schedule me in quickly! I am very picky in general, but was very picky about the color of the flooring I wanted and Gerard fulfilled that request color perfectly. The master bedroom flooring is my favorite! Gerard and his crew did a great job installing special ordered 2.5" unfinished engineered oak flooring over a concrete floor in a 60 yr old investment condo. It was a complex job with many steps to assure a long-lasting permanent bond. The first step was to arrange to have the wood delivered a week early to acclimatize to the unit before installing (pain in the neck for Fidalgo, but very important for a successful install). Next there was significant research to obtain materials to provide not only a superior wood/cement bond, but also a product to guarantee a moisture barrier and an acoustic block to dampen noise to the unit below. These extra products required specialized trowels for application. Once the floor was installed, the dustless sanding began, in preparation for the four coats of water-based poly applications. Nothing was rushed; all coats were given the proper time to dry. The poly product used for the first three coats was the latest formulation of Bona Traffic HD 1k, a quality trusted product in floor refinishing. The fourth and final finish coat was Bona's commercial grade top tier HD 2k (a pain in the neck two step mix with a special hardener) for exceptional durability. The final result was outstanding! Additionally, there were two bedrooms with 60 year old yellowed wooden parquet floor tiles, several too loose to be sanded as is. Gerard glued down what was needed to refinish and then provided the same sanding and refinishing coats as provided above. The result was a modern looking parquet floor in both color and satin finish. I don’t know how they have been in business for so long. Shoddy work and that’s being nice. Call anyone else.
