Five Star Roofing Company is a roofing contractor that a sevendaysvt.com article describes as having offices in Shelburne and Plattsburgh, N.Y. Its website lists a service area of York, Franklin, Grand Isle, Chittenden, Addison, Rutland, Clinton, Essex and Warren. On Google it holds 4.7 stars from 21 ratings, and its BBB page shows an A+ grade. A recent Google customer said Monique and her crew located and repaired the trouble areas on a 30-year roof with "dormer issues" and left the house and yard clean. A 2025 customer said the company worked with them on rescheduling when it rained on two scheduled installation dates, and completed the roof replacement before any snow. In that 2025 review, the customer said no-interest financing over 12 months on the remaining 50% balance was a big reason they chose Five Star Roofing. A 2025 customer said the crew showed up as scheduled and finished a complex 53-square home in 2 days, and that a problem area needing 3-4 hours more work was not charged extra. A 2023 Google customer said the team worked 9.5 hours in one day to finish both the house and the garage and was careful picking up nails in the driveway. A 2023 customer said Tammy supplied a clear contract and scheduled the roof installation on two sheds. A 2023 customer wrote that the company was "not the cheapest option" but that the difference in quality, from the roof venting to the flashing, was apparent to a lay-person. A recent Google customer said a full roof replacement, installed after a small leak, leaked worse in the exact same place less than a year later; the office then said no one would be back until the gutters were addressed, and the customer wrote that they were out $23,000. A 2023 customer said clean-up after a roof replacement left nails in the deck, the driveway and the lawn, and a nail later cost the reviewer's husband a tire; after the review, the company sent a check for the tire. A 2025 customer said the job was done quickly but a diverter they said they would put on was left off. In a June 2024 r/vermont thread, a poster said they were in a dispute with Five Star Roofing over a roofing project and that the company was getting nasty. In a September 2026 r/vermont thread, a poster wrote that the employees taken from a Five Star Roofing job site in Morrisville "had all required paperwork according to the company spokesperson." Another September 2026 post there reads, "To our knowledge, Five Star Roofing is not under investigation and has not been accused of wrongdoing." Vermont lists its home improvement contractor registration, 174.0000334, as active, held by Five Star Roofing.

Just had my roof done by Monique and her crew. My 30 year roof had some "dormer issues" going in. The crew was able to locate and repair the trouble areas. They were prompt, clean, professional and my house and yard is as clean as it was two days ago. The Owen's Corning Duration shingles also look great. Other house upgrades soon to come, but my worries about the roof have been put to rest. Great job. Highly recommend.
ZERO Stars !!! We had a small leak in our office and they said they would only do a full roof replacement. Since our house is 24 years old we had them install a new roof. The foreman (E) did not speak the same language as the crew actually doing the work (he stayed in his truck) so there was no way for them to communicate. We asked the foreman if they were paying attention to the area where the leak was hand he assured us they were. I asked him that and my husband asked him separately. We had the rhino shield no leak barrier supposedly. Less than a year later the roof leaked worse than before on the EXACT same place. The foreman and the same crew came and “repaired” some shingles. He said it was probably defective shingles” when I asked him about it. I asked him “what about the interior damage? He said get a contractor to repair it and send the bill to the office”. That didn’t sound right but before the crew was done repairing, he left. We had a contractor come about the interior damage, the first thing they said was “we can see from the road your shingles are bad”! I called 5 Star office and the secretary said “E said your gutters are too low and we won’t be back to do anything until that’s addressed” and that he (E) would call me. No call back. The gutters have been there 25 years and we have photos showing the gutters are not too low. We got confirmation of this. Long story short, find someone else to do your roof! Their lifetime warranty is apparently non existent and we are out $23,000!!!
Professional interactions, interactions, and quality installation throughout. Worked with me on rescheduling when it was raining on two scheduled installation dates. Completed the roof replacement before any snow events happened, much appreciated as that was a concern that I had communicated. Top notch and highly knowledgeable office staff made the process flow smoothly and without issue. No interest financing over 12 months of the remaining 50% balance was a big reason why we went with Five Star Roofing to do the roof replacement. Professional service in all stages, highly recommended.
We received a competitive quote site unseen by providing blueprints. We requested a visit and discussion for comfort. One of the PM’s, Eric, came and we had a great discussion about the job and the company. We worked together with the office to agree on the verbiage of the contract. The crew showed up as scheduled two weeks later and worked hard and efficiently. They finished a complex 53 square home in 2 days. There was a problem area that I wanted addressed. This was unable to be quoted due to unknowns but various solutions were discussed. We worked together for a solution and we were not charged extra even though it was 3-4 hours more work. The quality of the work was very good and I would not hesitate to hire them again.
The job was done quickly and good. The only thing was that they left off the diverter that they said they would put on several months ago. They said they would come back to put it on.
