Frontier Air HVAC is a Stoneham-based company built around its owner, Tony (Anton Baliuk) — and the name Tony shows up in nearly every one of the company's 31 reviews going back to 2021, spanning Google, Thumbtack and word of mouth on Reddit. The company describes itself as family-owned, founded in 2014, and a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor — a certification that keeps coming up independently across its Thumbtack profile and Reddit recommendations, not just its own marketing. The volume of specific praise is unusual: reviewers describe heat pump and mini-split installs completed on time and on budget, crews that clean up thoroughly, and Tony personally walking customers through Mass Save rebate paperwork. On Thumbtack, the company holds an 'Exceptional' 5.0-star rating from 26 reviews with a 100% five-star distribution and earned Top Pro status in 2022. A homeowner posting on Reddit in August 2026 named Frontier among the best three quotes they got while shopping the Mass Save approved-installer list, alongside two other local installers. Two Reddit threads, one from 2024 and another from 2025, independently raised the same design critique: the installs themselves are solid, but the company tends to oversize the equipment it specs. It's a specific, recurring point worth asking about directly — get the load calculation explained before signing off on unit size. Separately, a June 2026 Google review complained about a parking-lot incident involving an employee at a shopping mall; it isn't about the company's HVAC work itself. Frontier's primary listing shows a Stoneham address, but its Thumbtack and Angi profiles both list Melrose — worth confirming which is current before visiting in person. For a mini-split, heat pump, or central air installation, Frontier's track record is deep and specific, anchored by one name customers trust. The one technical point worth raising with Tony directly is sizing — ask him to walk through the load calculation for your space.
“Frontier, forge, elephant energy.”
“Mass save has a list of approved installers if you want the rebate. I got a bunch of quotes, best 3 were: Elephant Energy. Frontier. Forge.”
“good installs but \~meh\~ on design sometimes. Tends to oversize.”
“Tony does good work, actually calls you back and shows up when he says he will, and has fair prices.”
“Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, 55 Google Reviews @ 5 ⭐, *but* **tends to oversize**.”
“I would highly recommend Frontier Air for your HVAC needs. Tony was very professional and responded quickly to all questions I asked him. He arrived on time and did quality work. Do not hesitate to use Frontier Air! Great company!”
Tony and his crew did an amazing job on our heat pump installation. They were quick, friendly, and very communicative throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend Frontier Air!
Good job!
Tony and his team did a wonderful job at a very good price. They were able to replace a system that snaked through a wall, without causing any further disruption to the building. They were polite and efficient. Tony was very patient and helpful when I had questions (even basic ones). I highly recommend Frontier!
This place has some terrible people working for them. A guy with a mullet swooped my spot at the Burlington Mall and almost smashed the car next to them. Then he gave me the finger and walked inside. Awful people
Tony & his crew were excellent. They were prompt, diligent, and followed up at every turn. There were plenty of hurdles with our old house that the lads were able to handle. Tony helped navigate the rebate process and came by to check on things a few weeks later. I can't recommend enough.
