Two people on Reddit said the same thing about Frontier Air more than a year apart: the installs are solid, but they tend to oversize. That is a useful place to start with a Stoneham heat-pump outfit whose customer reviews otherwise run warm and remarkably consistent — 4.6 stars across 31 Google ratings, a flat 5.0 across 26 on Thumbtack, and a company most people refer to by the owner's first name rather than its own. The company describes itself as family owned and operated, established in 2014, and lists Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor and Mass Save heat pump installer status. What customers actually hire it for is unmistakable from the reviews: mini-splits, ducted heat pumps, central A/C replacements and furnaces, usually retrofitted into houses that were never designed for them, with Tony himself on site. The praise is specific and it repeats. A homeowner writing in July 2026 described a heat pump installed quickly with communication the whole way through. A December 2025 reviewer described an old house full of hurdles, Tony walking them through the rebate paperwork and coming back a few weeks later to check on the system. A December 2024 customer said the crew matched the exterior color of the outdoor unit to the house. In a 2023 review, a homeowner who had bought his own equipment direct from Alpine Home Air described Tony coordinating it from the curb into the install. Price comes up constantly, always as fair or competitive, and so does cleanup — a 2023 reviewer made a point of saying they vacuumed up after themselves. Two things are worth raising before you call. The sizing note is the substantive one: a commenter in June 2025 and another in February 2024 independently said the same thing, and load sizing is what decides whether a heat pump runs efficiently or short-cycles for the next fifteen years — so ask what heat-loss calculation the proposal is built on and ask to see the numbers. The second needs context rather than weight: there is a one-star Google review from June 2026, and it describes a parking-lot confrontation at the Burlington Mall with someone in a company vehicle, not anything about installed work. This is the right call for a homeowner replacing a system in an older house who wants the owner, not a salesperson, standing in the basement. Get the sizing math in writing, confirm which rebates they will file on your behalf, and note that the company's own site and its Angi profile disagree about how long it has been trading.
“good installs but \~meh\~ on design sometimes. Tends to oversize.”
“Tony does good work, actually calls you back and shows up when he says he will, and has fair prices.”
“Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, 55 Google Reviews @ 5 ⭐, *but* **tends to oversize**.”
“I would highly recommend Frontier Air for your HVAC needs. Tony was very professional and responded quickly to all questions I asked him. He arrived on time and did quality work. Do not hesitate to use Frontier Air! Great company!”
Tony and his crew did an amazing job on our heat pump installation. They were quick, friendly, and very communicative throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend Frontier Air!
Good job!
Tony and his team did a wonderful job at a very good price. They were able to replace a system that snaked through a wall, without causing any further disruption to the building. They were polite and efficient. Tony was very patient and helpful when I had questions (even basic ones). I highly recommend Frontier!
This place has some terrible people working for them. A guy with a mullet swooped my spot at the Burlington Mall and almost smashed the car next to them. Then he gave me the finger and walked inside. Awful people
Tony & his crew were excellent. They were prompt, diligent, and followed up at every turn. There were plenty of hurdles with our old house that the lads were able to handle. Tony helped navigate the rebate process and came by to check on things a few weeks later. I can't recommend enough.
