Forty Google ratings averaging 4.9, and one name runs through nearly all of them: Geovane. GB Hardwood Floor Inc works out of 1211 Washington Street in Norwood, and the company says two brothers — the Bragas — run it, having founded it 17 years ago after arriving in the United States about two decades earlier and spending three years as construction subcontractors. What people hire them for is tired floors made new. A homeowner writing in June 2025 had three floors refinished and repaired, and one room's boards turned out to have been painted over — nobody had known what was underneath. In April 2026 another had wide pine floors restored and a new kitchen floor laid, with Mike and Daniel handling the evaluation and the no-dust sanding and finishing. A September 2024 job took white oak stairs that had just been rebuilt and sanded, stained and sealed them to match the pre-finished hardwood elsewhere in the house. Carpet out, hardwood or laminate down, stair treads and railings matched, walls painted after — that combination repeats. Their written history runs to 62 reviews since 2017 on Google and Angi, and speed of contact comes up often: a homeowner who sent out online inquiries in June 2026 says GB called back within the hour. Two recent jobs are worth asking about. A July 2026 customer who worked with them over several weeks said the flooring "was done very well" but the painting "was average, lots of spots which need to be touched up." A June 2026 reviewer describes a hardwood project in Newton the year before, and a warranty issue on the laminate in one section of the house: he writes that Geovane "placated us several times by saying he would go by and address it." The Angi history carries two hard early accounts too — a 2019 customer said the entire project had to be redone, and a 2018 customer said two flights of wood stairs quoted at one or two days took ten and left a big mess. The owner replied to both publicly, offering to come back and clean in the 2018 case and, in 2019, naming the finish used and saying a refund had been offered by phone and text. If the job is a floor — refinishing, a carpet-to-hardwood swap, stairs and railings matched to what is already down — this is a straightforward call. Get the warranty terms and who handles a callback in writing, and if painting is part of the scope, settle up front what the final walkthrough has to cover.
