In May 2026, a customer wrote that what should have been a $200 yearly service call at Greco & Haines ended in a broken well pump, a flooded basement and a $1,600 bill, with a further $300 charge for servicing the well taken off only after they disputed it with the office. The Derby company works on well water systems across Connecticut and says it has been around for more than 60 years; its Connecticut plumbing licence is active, and it holds 3.2 stars from 84 Google ratings. In a May 2026 review, a long-time customer said Larry diagnosed air in the pipes and, with his assistant Stavos, fixed it quickly. A June 2026 reviewer wrote that Elvis and Raheem arrived quickly and were kind and professional. In January 2026, a customer said Dave took the time to show them why their tank, filter and treatment system was failing, and quoted substantially less than a competitor. In April 2024, Elvis and Gary replaced a failed well pump in a wet hole on a Sunday, and in an April 2022 review two technicians replaced a pressure switch and had the water running by 9:00 AM after a 7:00 AM call. In an April 2026 one-star review, a customer said both technicians took smoke breaks that ran up the billed hours, and that after a pump and wire job they were told the tank was rotting out and would cost an extra $1,700. In December 2025, a reviewer was given a 9am–1pm window, saw no one until 1:30pm, and said dispatch hung up after they cancelled. A March 2025 reviewer described an annual filtration service as a sales pitch that left the water lines turned off. In June 2022, a customer wrote that a pump the company installed in 2017 had failed because the previous tech put in a pump that was not powerful enough. In May 2022, another customer objected to $320 an hour for two technicians and a $3,000 pump.
“used Greco & Haines last summer for the first time, just to have an inspection after 13 years in the house”
Elvis and Raheem arrived quickly, worked quickly and were kind and professional.
A simple yearly service call was a disaster. The Serviceman broke my well pump, flooded my basement and what should have been a $200 service call cost me $1,600, to replace my well pump. He tried to charge me an additional $300 for servicing the well that he broke. I had to dispute it with the office. It was taken off the bill. The serviceman didn’t have a wet vac in his truck and he left a mess in the basement for me to clean up. He didn’t tighten the fittings when he replaced the filter which caused air to get in my pipes. I called another Well Service and paid another $180 to have it tightened. The whole experience was poorly handled by all Greco annd Haines employees involved. As a consideration for all my cost and trouble I was further insulted with an offered of a $200 credit. I will never use or recommend Greco and Haines.
Larry did a great job diagnosing a problem related to air in the pipes. He and his assistant Stavos quickly fixed the problem and the water system is back on track. Larry has provided great service through the years and is probably one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back to G & H.
Greco & Haines proved to be knowledgeable, professional and respectful . Greco gave us clean and radon free water! Thank you!
Office staff is very rude. They make you feel like you’re dumb for calling with a water problem. I had no water and one of the guys they sent were unpresentable looked like he just rolled out of bed. Smoking every 5 minutes (both guys) i think i got charged 2 hours 45 minutes and the extra 3/4 of an hour was just on smoke breaks. Here is the kicker though they quote me do a pump and wire they call it and after they’re done they tell me oh your tank is rotting out you need that as well it will be an extra 1700 dollars. Theyre salesman it seems!
