Green Energy Mechanical is a family-owned HVAC, electrical and plumbing company based in Canton, serving towns across eastern Massachusetts. It holds an active Massachusetts plumbing license (#4480-PL-C). Better Business Bureau separately lists the company as an A+ accredited business. Reviewers across several platforms describe individual technicians who know their trade: in a July 2026 review, one customer called the technician courteous and knowledgeable; a May 2026 review praised a tankless-water-heater visit as attentive and detail-oriented; another from the same month described a heat pump maintenance call as personable and thorough. Older accounts echo the same pattern — a 2024 review commended the crew for showing up immediately with space heaters when a furnace failed, and a 2019 review pointed to a fair price and staff who explained the work in detail. The company's recent record is uneven, though. In a December 2025 review, a customer described a technician breaking a gas shutoff valve during a repair and leaving an active gas leak, serious enough that the fire department had to shut off gas and electricity to the building. A June 2026 review described weeks of delays waiting on a part and a main phone line that repeatedly came back disconnected, and an August 2026 review said a $1,949 quote for a toilet repair turned out to be a simple fix, with only a partial refund weeks later. Other reviews raise similar billing and follow-up complaints. Ratings vary sharply by platform — Google shows 3.4 stars from 14 ratings, well below the 4.6 and 4.7 stars shown on Best Pick Reports and HomeAdvisor. Given the mix of strong individual technician praise and recent complaints about delays, billing and one serious safety incident, it's worth getting a firm, itemized quote up front and confirming timelines before booking anything beyond routine service.

There techs are wonderful there cust service but mgmt leaves a lot to be desired. I was quoted with $1949 plus $49 to come out. They quoted $1949 for toilet repair and possible pipe work on a 2nd floor bathroom toilet leak. Turned out it was just the toilet donut. I looked for a refund as it took them an hour to change it. 2wks later I'm getting $249 back so if you want to pay $750 to replace a donut call them. But I think you're smarter than me!!!
Service quality has been poor. Constantly trying to upsell unnecessary products or services.
The technician from Green Energy was very courteous, knowledgeable and he answered all of my questions. Very helpful to give me insight into ways to run my furnace and AC for the best possible money saving results. 4 stars instead of 5 because there was some upselling of services which I declined. Overall, a very good experience.
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. GEM installed my HVAC system in 2017 and has serviced it ever since. They had some great people, like Josh and Endrit who installed the system, and Terry who serviced it for several years before leaving a couple of years ago. I held the company in high regard and recommended it to several friends. Unfortunately, over the last 2–3 years I started noticing a shift. There was a high turnover of service technicians, with a different person showing up every six months, some of them unfortunately lacking basic training. My last four service appointments were all rescheduled at the last minute. I also bought an annual service plan that included filters, only to be told later that filters were not included. After several phone calls, many of them ignored, I eventually got the filters. But the last straw came during the last routine semi-annual maintenance visit. When the technician finished, he told me the system had multiple problems that needed to be fixed, and then connected me on his cell phone to a salesperson (Bradley). Bradley quickly walked me through the supposed problems, supported by measurements and photos, and gave me a quote of about $4,300 to fix them. When I asked him to send the quote in writing, he asked why I needed that. At that point, my antennas went up, never mind that the system was in perfect shape just six months earlier. I asked the technician to repeat every measurement in my presence and reopen the system so I could see the other issues myself. One by one, the supposed problems disappeared. The low static pressure was low because they ran the system at 50% capacity. The claimed icing on the coil turned out to be nothing more than normal grey discoloration. The supposedly dirty blower was not dirty at all. There were a couple other items in the quote that I didn’t bother investigating anymore, as I completely lost trust in the integrity of their quote and the supposed “evidence”. We called Bradley back to share what I had observed. After a brief attempt to defend the identified problems, he shifted to a scare tactic, warning—in an increasingly aggressive tone—that I was risking a system failure during the hottest part of the year and that fixing it later could cost many times more than accepting his quote today. Many things went wrong during this visit, but what crossed the line for me was presenting multiple invented problems that disappeared as soon as I asked the technician to verify them in my presence. For me, that crossed into scam territory.
The initial technician was competent and identified a problem two others had missed, but an early scheduling oversight (missing isolation kit) should have been the warning. Things deteriorated quickly: I was told a necessary part was readily available and work would happen within days of signing. After signing and having to call them again to get an update on when they would be out I was told it would be 2–3 weeks to order. Weeks passed with no updates. Their main phone number repeatedly returned a disconnected message. I chased them for progress. The part finally arrived in May — two months after my first call in March. The repair crew arrived with no knowledge of the existing work order. They cut apart the pvc exhaust pipe, then dismantled the system to extract the faulty part which was very different in size than the part in hand, because one part of it looked the same they then proceed to beat it with a pair of channel locks to try to remove that piece, destroying the original in the process. I then had to point out that the box was clearly labelled "intake," not "exhaust." Wrong part entirely. They left without cleaning up any of the mess, leaving my system in pieces, just eager to leave the disaster they caused. The only follow-up was an automated review request. When I finally reached management they assured me they would do everything to rectify the situation and the assigned manager would be in touch. When said manager reached out to me their response was to blame the supplier and tell me nothing could be done until after the long weekend. Nobody bothered to check that the part ordered was correct at any point in the process. No accountability. No interim solution. No urgency. I would not recommend this company for any work where reliability matters.
