A homeowner called Grind Away at ten in the morning in January 2026, got a call straight back, and had the machine in the yard at noon the next day. The stump — a three-foot-diameter solid pine with a ten-foot root ball — was gone in under half an hour. Speed is what people write about. A customer in September 2025 was squeezed in the day they called and had a stump and some large roots ground down in under thirty minutes. Another, hosting a party in August 2025 and told by every other vendor that it couldn't be done in time, said Jamie came out on short notice. In December 2025, one customer had him arrive early because a storm was coming. Jamie Vaiknoras owns the company and works out of Pelham; by his own site it does residential stump and shrub grinding, golf-course stumps, and limited cleanup, loam and seeding. An August 2025 caller said the phone was picked up immediately and he came out the same day to look at the job. The machine gets its own mentions. An August 2025 customer wrote that it barely disturbed the grass and left no tracks — small enough to fit through a thirty-inch gap, and still enough to make short work of their stumps. An April 2025 customer with six stumps said the promised date held despite inclement weather, and that they never had to move their plants out of the way. What happens after the grinding is the other recurring note. A June 2026 customer had seed and fertilizer put down once the work was finished; an April 2025 customer kept the mulch from the grinding and used it elsewhere in the garden. A November 2025 job went past stumps into brush clearing, and an August 2025 customer had branches limbed and dead trees taken out. Two things to sort out on the phone. The site gives Pelham as the service area, so ask about travel if you are farther out. And it describes the cleanup, loam and seeding as limited — worth pinning down what is in the price for your yard, since customers describe everything from a tidy site to seed and fertilizer down. For a stump that has to go this week — one sitting in a lawn you don't want torn up, or half a dozen before the fence crew arrives — this is the call to make. Ask for the quote up front (a November 2025 customer had one inside 24 hours) and settle who keeps the grindings.
