Hall Oil Gas & Electric is a family-owned heating oil delivery, HVAC and electrical company based in South Dennis, serving Cape Cod towns from Sandwich to Truro. The company reports being founded in 1918 and being run today by a fourth-generation owner, Ken Foster, offering oil delivery, heating and air conditioning installation, water heaters, generators, gas fireplaces and natural gas conversions. Customer feedback is a mix of praise and complaint. A 2022 review credited the installation team, naming electrician A.J., for a Generac generator project handled well from the estimate through the final finish, and a 2026 review called the staff's help with parts excellent. Three other reviews spanning 2023 to early 2026 describe friction with the company. A 2023 reviewer said a $1,750 estimate to remove an old oil tank came in at more than double a competitor's $850 price. A 2024 reviewer described slow scheduling and slow quoting, calling the service unreliable. A January 2026 reviewer said a heating system installed in 2024 couldn't hold a set temperature and that a staff member was rude and defensive when discussing a possible service-call charge. Google shows an overall 3.2-star average from 9 ratings, somewhat higher than the mix of written reviews retrievable here. Anyone considering Hall Oil should ask for a firm, itemized quote before committing, especially for oil tank removal, and confirm how a follow-up service call on newly installed equipment is handled. For generator or larger installation work, the 2022 review is the strongest specific account of the crew's work; for anything price-sensitive, a second quote is worth getting.
The right items and excellent help from the staff. Thank you
If I could give zero stars I would, We had a new heating system installed by Hall Oil in March 2024, We called because we could not regulate the heat we would have the thermostat on 68 and it would get so hot so would have to run a fan, Called Hall and got Scott who is very rude and arrogant and he said if we come out and this is not our fault you will have to pay for the service call, We ended up not having them come out because it was a financial issue at that time, But this past November we had to have them come out because when we went to turn on the brand new heating system that they installed the screen keep reading stand by and no heat so we finally called again and got Scott once again and he sent a man out that could not barely speak English and could not tell us the issue but had no parts on his truck and was not eh telephone for the two hours he was at my house, and left saying sorry no heat. The next day same man came back told us it was the transformer and they did not have the part we would have to wait unto Monday. Monday morning I call and what do you know got Scott again and he said he can not send anyone out, That is when I lost it a little and he got a different man to come end of day and he said the wire was broken he replaced a thermostat and got the heat working in the main house but not in the bedrooms (two valve house separate heat but same system) He said we need to replace the valve head which we did......But we usually do not run the heat in the bedrooms unless it is very extremely cold like it has been this past week. So we go to try to turn the heat on in the bedrooms and guess what?!?!?!?!?! NO HEAT..... call Hall Oil and talk to Scott he said that they did not touch any wires and that we would have to pay for them to come out........Can you make this up? I spoke to a lovely women names Sara and she said she would have the owner call me back but I am still waiting. DO NOT RECOMMEND HALL OIL
Very poor ability to schedule an apptmt to inspect the heating system. Then very poor ability to spit out a quote in any kind of timely manner. SLOW service equates to being unreliable, in my opinion. Bring your business elsewhere!
I’m selling my home and needed an old oil tank removed from my basement. I called Hall oil and the gave me an estimate of $1750. To drain oil and remove. I thought that was high so someone recommended I call a company named Boston Green who also removes and installs oil tanks. They charged me $850 total…Shame on Hall Oil for trying to take advantage of the situation….
This company Hall Oil I give a big shout out to to the installation of a brand new Generac generator. Outstanding service starting with the estimate to the final finish. A.J the electrician and his professional knowledge is outstanding I also include their plumber’s for moving a heat pipe for building code reasons related to the transfer switch for the generator. I used Hall oil company for their professionalism for the way they treat the public and my experience from the past as a veteran I belong to and organization called Rolling Thunder Mass Chapter 2, in a pinch they had our back and donated a big grill for the day thank you once again Hall oil Denise and Donna Joseph Paul Redanz
