HomeCheck Professional Home Inspections is a one-inspector home inspection company working out of Derry, New Hampshire, and its own site says it is built around the buyer: inspections for people about to sign for a house across southern New Hampshire, from Salem and Londonderry through Nashua, Manchester, Concord, Exeter and Hampton. The Better Business Bureau's file lists it as an LLC with Mark Raumikaitis as owner and a business start date of January 1982, and grades it A+ — on a profile that also states plainly the company is not BBB accredited. What people who hired him describe is time on site and paper afterwards. In a 2015 Google review a couple who booked a pre-sale inspection said two inspectors arrived on schedule, worked for nearly three hours, talked them through what they had found before leaving, and sent a 61-page report backed with photos two days later; the same reviewer noted the price was above some other inspection services and still called it a good investment. A Reddit commenter in the r/newhampshire community wrote in 2012 that Mark spent about three hours on a 1,200 square foot ranch and explained things clearly and concisely, and recommended him without reservation. The written record is genuinely dated. The two reviews on file are both from 2015 and the Reddit account is from 2012, and one of those two reviews comes from a real-estate agent describing fifteen years of sending clients rather than an inspection of her own home. Nothing here speaks to how the business runs today, so recent client references are a fair thing to ask for. Credentials are listed rather than verified. The BBB profile records licence number 133 issued by the State of New Hampshire, along with ASHI certification and FHA/VA licensed wood-destroying-insect inspector credentials — those are the directory's entries, not checks against the state. New Hampshire licenses home inspectors through its Office of Professional Licensure and Certification, and confirming the licence and its status directly with that office is a five-minute call worth making. The right call for a buyer who wants an unhurried, photo-documented walkthrough and is comfortable paying a little more for it, and for a seller wanting to know what an inspector will find before the house goes on the market. Confirm the current licence with the OPLC, ask what a report looks like today, and ask who will actually be doing the inspection.
“I'm closing on my house in a few weeks and I was very happy with Mark from homecheck inspections. Extremely thorough and was able to explain things clearly and concisely. I am buying a 1200 sq ft ranch and he spent ~3 hours going over everything. Highly recommended!!”
We had a pre-sale inspection done by Mark and Matt to get an idea of what we needed to do before putting our home on the market next year. They arrived on schedule, worked for nearly 3 hours, gave us detailed insights before they left and supplied us with a 61 page report only 2 days later. What a great investment! Their report was VERY thorough and loaded with photos to back up their recommendations. Although they found problems (as expected with a 37 year old home) I now have a year to get them mitigated. I spent a little more on their services than some other inspection services would have charged, but I believe the value they bring more than offsets any perceived "premium" in cost. I would use HomeCheck again in a heartbeat!
My experience as well as my clients in the past 15 yrs has been absolutely wonderful. Mark has integrity, respect and patience, and he's very thorough. No question is a bad question. If you follow him he teaches you allot about the home. Buyers walk away saying wow he was great!
