124 permitted projects is the number that matters here. HRH Construction's building-permit trail — structural repairs to basement beams, mansard-roof soffit rebuilds, porch reframing, seaside decks — reads like the record of a company that actually does the hard structural work, not just the finish work. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #101730, is active. The company says it was founded by master craftsman Dave Hope and is family-owned, built around taking one project at a time, working across Greater Boston out of the Methuen/Andover area. BuildZoom lists William D. Hope as president and owner. The advertised range runs from kitchens, baths and whole-home renovations to additions, custom homes, ADUs, decks and porches — plus structural and rot repair, which its own site treats as a specialty. On Houzz the standing is strong: 4.9 across 24 reviews, with work quality and communication both at 4.9 and value slightly behind at 4.8, alongside 38 posted projects and two Houzz awards. Google tells a cooler story — 3.7 from just three ratings — so the two platforms don't agree, and the written accounts on those pages are dated rather than current. The honest gap is recency: there's a deep permit history and a strong Houzz score, but no fresh independent commentary to confirm how jobs are running right now. The Houzz sub-scores also put value below quality and communication, which fits a company that positions itself at the premium end. HRH is a sensible call for a structural repair, a rot or foundation problem, or an addition where framing matters more than the showroom — the permit record shows real work of that kind across Methuen, Salisbury, Newburyport and Danvers. Ask for references from jobs finished in the last year, get the scope and allowances in writing, and confirm who supervises day to day given the one-project-at-a-time model.

We contacted Dave at HRH to help deal with a rot problem on our front porch and garage that had been developing over the years. Dave appeared very confident that he could identify and repair the problem and after pulling it all apart, we are very lucky we found him when we did. He showed us how the original builder (20 years ago) had not waterproofed or constructed properly and the problem had gotten so severe that our front porch was in danger of collapsing. Though the weather did not cooperate with the schedule, they did an excellent job of keeping it weather tight each day and the final result, involving significant structural repairs, rot removal and repairs, and new porch stairs on both sides could not look any better. We are grateful we found Dave and HRH and will absolutely use them again for any future project! Best of luck!

This company is a joke. I wish I could leave no stars! Client beware! Highly overpriced and extremely unprofessional. The entire operation is run like a circus. Dave Hope was a classless individual who shouldn’t be in charge of a petting zoo, let alone a construction company. I ended up going with Keen Construction instead and was supremely satisfied.

HRH did a major reconstruction of our roof as well as some more minor work on our antique house. Bottom line is that we are very pleased and impressed by their work. It was very well thought out and accomplished in a totally professional way. If you really want to have a good job done, I highly recommend them.
