Huy Tran Electrician LLC is a one-person-and-crew electrical outfit based in Quincy, working mostly on residential wiring, lighting, and camera installs around the South Shore and Boston. Google shows 4.7★ from 14 ratings, but the reviews behind that number tell a more mixed story than the average alone suggests. Most of what's written is enthusiastic and specific: customers describe him wiring and installing light fixtures at a new salon, putting up security cameras and new lighting throughout a house, and returning for repeat jobs across both a home and rental units. One reviewer, in the middle of a heat-wave power outage, says Huy gave a same-day quote and had the problem fully fixed by the next morning after struggling to find an electrician who wasn't trying to upsell them. A May 2025 review tells a very different story: after the reviewer declined an unexpected $3,500 add-on for hood-vent ductwork, they say Huy pushed the project back two months, then canceled the building permit outright when they raised the idea of finding a replacement. It's the sharpest complaint among the reviews, and worth asking about directly before signing anything — get a firm end date and full scope in the contract up front. A Boston permit-tracking site separately shows Huy has closed 79% of his rated permits since 2023, above the city median, though 10 remain open. For straightforward wiring, lighting, and camera work, the reviews mostly describe fast, competent service — but given the one detailed account of a stalled project and a canceled permit, it's worth pinning down cost and timeline commitments before work begins.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Huy Tran Electrician LLC. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.

Very reliable and trustworthy electrician. I’ve had two outages and Huy has always prioritized me as a customer. If you’re in the Quincy area or south shore, definitely consider him for all your electrical fixes and maintenance.
The worst electrician ever. He initially gave me a reasonable price. However, he subsequently tried to add unnecessary cost to my project at a significant cost installing a hood vent duct and roof opening for 3500$ (see screen shot) . When I declined those additional cost, he postponed my projects for 2 months. When I confronted him, about finding a replacement he canceled my permit. (See attached images). He's a nightmare to deal with. In the future, make sure you have an end date in your project contract.
Huy and his team did an awesome job and the price is very reasonable.
I have been having power outages throughout the week and it was nightmare during the heat wave. Could not find a reliable electrician that wasn’t trying to scam us into doing more service until I stumbled across Huy on Google! I reached out to Huy on Thursday at 1pm for a power issue. He came over same day in the evening for a quote and fixed it the next morning! Love his quick response times and efficiency in getting things done. All my electrical issues were resolved by him and his team in 2 hours! So glad to have found him and totally recommend!
Huy was prompt, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He was very efficient with his work and what had to be done, ensuring everything was safe and up to code. I highly recommend them for any electrical needs you may have and will definitely give him a call when I need them. They truly went above and beyond!
