Ilias Bintas Licensed Electrician — also operating as IB Electric LLC, or IBE Boston — works out of 469 Albany St in Boston's South End. The company's own site describes a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work alongside security systems (access control, burglar and fire alarms) and smart-home automation. Forty-four reviews have piled up across five sites since 2023 — Google alone puts him at 4.7 from 41 ratings, with directory aggregators citing 4.9 elsewhere and Thumbtack landing at 4.3 from six ratings. The pattern in most of them is speed: a store near Copley Place lost power in February and had it back up within hours of one phone call, and another customer that same month had an outage fixed in about 20 minutes. A restaurant in Copley Square brought him in for a security-camera job and he worked around business hours — early mornings and after close — to avoid disrupting service. That responsiveness shows up again on smaller jobs: breaker swaps, outlet fixes, a bathroom light, a camera system, a TV mounted over a mantel that other electricians said couldn't be done without cutting into the wall. Customers who've called him more than once mention the same things — he explains the problem before fixing it, and he cleans up after himself. The trouble shows up on bigger jobs. A review from this April describes hiring "Ilias Bintas / IBE Boston" in January for a full panel rewiring, breaker replacements, fire alarm installation, EV chargers, and basement lighting — $18,600 paid across several invoices, and three months later the fire alarms still weren't in, the panel work was incomplete, no permit had been pulled, and calls were going unanswered for weeks. A review from May describes a similar outcome on another job, calling the $18,000 charged for incomplete work a scam. It isn't an isolated complaint — the fuller review history has more than one account like it. The split lines up with the size of the job. A same-day repair, a camera install, a single fixture — those customers come back and hire him again. A multi-trade project with a permit and a real timeline is where the record gets shaky. Anyone booking something bigger than a quick fix should get a written schedule, a permit timeline, and payment milestones in writing before work starts, and should ask directly how the last large panel job actually finished.

Ilias was recommended by a neighbor and he responded right away with a visit and a quote. His pricing was reasonable, and his work ethic exemplary. With his professional and friendly manner, the job was done quickly… until I added more work and he was so flexible with that! I would highly recommend him for any job, big or small. His sidekick Andres was also wonderful, along with his plasterer/painter George. I will definitely use him again for any future jobs. Thank you Ilias!

I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO CONSIDER ANOTHER ELECTRICIAN! Ilias effectively scammed my family and charged us $18,000 to not finish his work. The price was also absurdly price gouged. Trust anyone but Ilias.

Elias was extremely professional, and knowledgeable. I’ve had the privilege of hiring him twice, one for a breaker, and installation of a security camera system. He communicated openly and explained everything. He was respectful, extremely helpful, and maintained a clean work site.

Hired Ilias Bintas / IBE Boston in January 2026 for a major electrical project — panel rewiring, breaker replacements, fire alarm installation, EV chargers, basement lights, and a permit/inspection. Paid $18,600 across multiple invoices. As of April 2026, the project remains unfinished. Three fire alarms still need to be installed, basement panel work appears incomplete, and there is still construction debris in my basement that was never cleaned up. No permit has been pulled and no inspection has been scheduled. Communication throughout has been extremely poor. Weeks of no responses to calls and texts, repeated promises to show up that never materialized, and no written schedule ever provided despite multiple requests. I previously left a one-star review and removed it because I felt bad and wanted to give him another chance. I regret that decision. My son believes he is a good person and not someone trying to steal money, and I hope that's true, but the reality is that months later the work is not done and I would not recommend hiring this electrician. I regret ever contracting IBE Boston for this project.

Work at new restaurant in Copley Square, including installation of new security cameras and fixing some issues with the existing system. Did what was necessary, worked early morning and after close. Adapted to changing scope of work. Easy to work with. Would recommend for your job.
