Jerry Mazzola LLC is an Acton general contractor focused on substantial home-improvement work: basements, additions such as three- and four-season rooms, decks and porches, windows, kitchens, and baths. The company says it has been in business for more than 35 years and is run by Gerard (Jerry) Mazzola, who lists himself as owner. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration 154869 is active. The written customer history is small and dated: two Google reviews from 2020, alongside platform ratings of 5.0 from two Google ratings and 5.0 from three Porch ratings. In June 2020, a homeowner described Jerry inspecting unsafe deck railings and stairs and explaining that replacement was needed rather than applying a superficial patch. In February 2020, another reviewer said he repaired rotten wood while painting a neighbor's house. BuildZoom reports 44 permitted projects and a 97 score, while Houzz shows four projects. The practical question before booking is timing. The June 2020 homeowner said Jerry could not take the job immediately because he had pending projects, so confirm the current start date and schedule before committing. This looks suited to homeowners planning remodeling, exterior carpentry, decks, windows, or basement work rather than an emergency repair. Confirm the scope, start date, and license details before booking.
I have some repairs to be done for my deck railing (some rot) & side stairs to the house (extremely loose railings, cracks in posts). I have had a couple people in to quote the job, 1 said we only needed to put wood filler in the cracks of my railing posts....ummm, I'm no expert but pretty sure that won't fix the safety aspect. Anyway, Jerry said he couldn't do the job right now because he has too many pending projects, but he still swung by to look at the railings & stairs to confirm my suspicions that they need to be replaced in order to be safe for my family. He took time out of his day for a non-paying client and gave honest assessment of the work needed to be done. While I really want to fix the unsafe railings, part of me hopes I can't find someone else until he is available for the job!
Painting his neighbors house he game over and fixed the rotten wood every time we found some great neighbors.
