John Noonan Electric is a family-owned electrical contractor based in Cataumet, on Cape Cod, that has been established and incorporated in Massachusetts since 1979 according to Better Business Bureau records -- a longer history than the roughly 30 years the company cites on its own site. The company describes itself as a multi-generational, family owned-and-operated business handling residential and commercial wiring, generator installation, landscape lighting, and general electrical repair. The handful of Google reviews on file are mostly positive: recent and repeat customers describe the crew as timely, efficient and knowledgeable, and one longtime customer who has used the company more than once called it honest and completely competent. Google shows a 3.8-star average across 10 ratings overall, consistent with that positive tone. One 2021 review described a frustrating experience trying to get a generator estimate, with repeated follow-up calls over roughly two months producing no quote -- worth asking about if a firm timeline matters for your project. There is also a licensing wrinkle worth flagging: an electrician license number cited by both BBB and BuildZoom under this company's name is shown as expired in the state's own licensing registry and registered to a different individual, not one of the company's known officers -- so that particular number should not be relied on as this business's active credential, and current license standing is worth confirming directly with the state board before booking. For homeowners on the Upper Cape looking for a long-established, family-run electrician for residential wiring, generator, and lighting work, John Noonan Electric has a mostly positive, if thin, review record -- just confirm current licensing and get a firm estimate timeline before signing on.
Timely, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable.
These guys are excellent! Quick response and professional and charming workers. I will always use these guys!
I have again used John Noonan Electric. They always make me and my customers happy. It has been hard on all businesses to keep up but these folks do their best. A very honest and completely competent company.
I scheduled time to meet for an estimate on June16th and was told after that meeting that I would have an estimate the following week. I’ve followed up with phone calls in July and August and was told that I would receive one in a week each time. I still haven’t received a quote (August 25th). The brochure promoting to “book now for summer installs”of a generator must not be for this summer. Completely unprofessional service. I have not been contacted by them despite two follow up phone calls. This is my first posting of a review of a business and I apologize if I seem too stern.
