Six reviews on Google, all five stars, and the same repair shows up again and again before the paint ever goes on: rotted trim, siding, or gutters that get replaced first, not just covered over. In the four most recent reviews, from this year, the routine repeats in detail — scrape, replace whatever wood has failed, sand, prime, then two finish coats, never just one. One homeowner had existing wood trim swapped for PVC at the rakes, eaves, and soffits, then had gutters and downspouts replaced once a separate roofing job wrapped up. Another, in a 130-year-old house, had the whole exterior power-washed, scraped, and repainted after watching two neighbors go through the same process first and pass along the recommendation. Two older reviews, from mid-to-late 2025, describe the same trim-and-siding-then-paint sequence, and across all six ratings the pattern holds: fair pricing, no add-on surprises, and not one complaint on record. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor license is active. The real caveat here is sample size — six reviews is a genuine, consistent track record, but it's thinner than a contractor reviewed for a decade, so it's worth asking for a couple of recent addresses before committing. This is the right call for a house where the wood itself needs work — rotted trim, failing siding, old gutters — and not just a fresh color. Get the carpentry scope nailed down alongside the paint scope before signing, since every job on record has included both.

We hired John's Painting & Carpentry for a multitude of work on our house in the spring of 2026. John and his crew completed work to replace existing wood trim with PVC trim at rakes, eaves, and soffits. His crew also scraped, pressure washed and painted our house (primer plus two finish coats). Following roof replacement by another contractor, John and his crew returned to replace gutters and downspouts on the house. All of the work turned out great! We have been receiving many compliments on all of the projects. John's Painting and Carpentry was great to work with and the workers are very hard working and courteous.

My husband and I have always done all our own painting. We're at a point in our life that we needed some help. We did some work inside and employed other painters that really disappointed us. Now we needed the exterior of the house painted so we really looked around. From the get-go, I was impressed with John. He seemed to really know what the house needed and how he was going to go about completing the job. He was well organized, everything was in writing. His price was very reasonable, just slightly higher than our last estimate but he had made such an impression, that we had to hire him. What hard workers! He often came with a crew of 3, usually working 12 hour days!! They were so neat and clean, all so polite and respectful. John sat with me and reviewed my paint choices, with really great advice. He said he would have the job completed by May 25th and today is May 25th and the job is done! It took just over a week!!! And no complaints during that week. They came and worked hard, long hours and went home. And WOW. WOW. We are so so happy with how well it came out. We love our "new" home!!! You will not be disappointed if you hire this company. I am going to employ them again to help me with more work. What a relief to find a company that is honest, hard working and does amazing work. I obviously highly recommend them!! 10 STARS!!!

Awesome job! The guys were fastidious in their prep work making sure that there would be no damage to non-paintable surfaces. Everything was sanded and primed with two finish coats. Additional clapboard replacement and carpentry was done with care. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend John's Painting!

John and his crew are amazing. I saw his work when a neighbor had them working on his house, which was impressive. Then another neighbor hired him and, again, the results were great. So, I hired him. I have a 130-year-old house that needed some extra work. Power washed the entire house, scraped, replaced rotted wood, sanded, and primed. Then 2 coats of paint, all for a reasonable price. No one primes anymore or puts on 2 coats of paint. They were considerate of my property, professional, very friendly and did an amazing job. I highly recommend them.

John’s crew replaced rotted exterior trim with composite trim. They were timely, professional, neat, respectful, polite and very well communicated. The price was fair and craftsmanship quality. No surprises, no added expenses, no mess left behind. John and his brother Michael are hard working professionals. I highly recommend their services. It was an excellent experience.
