The rest of the permit trail is older and broader: a basement bathroom and a main-floor bathroom renovation in Chelmsford in 2012, a kitchen and bathroom remodel in Methuen in 2010, a handicap ramp in Lowell in 2013, and re-roofing and skylight work in Falmouth going back to 1990. Twelve permits in total, only three of them in the last three years, so this is a low-volume operation rather than a busy remodeling shop. No customer has written about the work. Its score of 98 is calculated from permit activity and licence status, not from anything a homeowner said. Two things to sort out on the phone. First, the licence section is muddled: BuildZoom prints specialty licence CSSL-106128 twice under two different type labels, lists home improvement contractor registration 146678 with an issue date of 05-01-2026 while saying it verified that licence in April 2026, and shows an older construction supervisor licence, CS-088368, as cancelled — then asserts in its own boilerplate that the company currently holds all three. Ask for the numbers directly and check them with the Department of Public Safety and the Office of Consumer Affairs. Second, the same profile carries multi-million-dollar Boston institutional permits — an MRI suite renovation and a dental-school lab — which do not match a one-man window operation and may belong to another person of the same name in BuildZoom's permit data. A sensible call for a window replacement job on the North Shore or in the Merrimack Valley, where the specialty licence and the recent permits line up. Get the licence numbers in writing, confirm them with the state, and ask for two or three recent window jobs you can look at, because there is no written customer record to go on.
