Joseph Savini Contracting is a Medford roofing company that Better Business Bureau records show has operated since 1977, run by Joseph S. Savini. It's best known locally for roofing — full replacements, repairs, slate maintenance, and moss removal — though BBB also lists gutters, windows and doors, painting and demolition among its services. Twenty reviews from 2021 through 2025 are overwhelmingly positive, and several describe a genuinely long relationship: one customer has used the company for slate roof maintenance for over 10 years, another for more than 30, both citing consistent quality and fair pricing. Others describe fast, clean work on demanding jobs — stripping two layers of old roofing and repairing sheathing on a 100-year-old house, tearing off and replacing about 1,000 square feet of roofing in a single day, and leaving yards cleaner than they found them. Multiple reviewers who've hired the company more than once for different projects report the same consistency each time. One 2024 review broke that pattern: the reviewer said a request for an estimate went unanswered, and the company added them to its mailing list without asking. There's a real gap worth knowing about directly: its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, verified against the state registry, is listed as expired, and BuildZoom's directory separately shows the business's other Home Improvement Contractor and Construction Supervisor license entries as inactive. BuildZoom's own permit record — 640 projects overall — also shows a marked slowdown, with only 12 permits pulled in the past three years against a much larger historical total. For roofing work specifically, the review history here is deep and consistently strong. Given the licensing status, it's worth asking directly about current registration and how the company handles permitting before signing a contract.

Savini Contracting did the roof for our home efficiently, cost effectively, and professionally. It's been a few years and we've had zero issues - we'd hire them again in a heartbeat!
These guys did a great job on the roof of our 100 year old house here in medford. Lots of different pitches and angles, two layers of old roofing to remove, had to repair/replace some portions of the sheathing, and deal with an old roof fan. And they did it incredibly fast and at a fair price. Then they stood by their work when we had questions the next year. Very satisfied!
Great experience with Savini, it's been a while, Savini did our roof and it is still holding up really well!
Savini Contracting did our roof about 5 years ago. The quality was great, and the roof still looks like new. They have followed up regularly to check if we have problems. Dependable quality!
Many years ago they installed a rubber roof. The work was very professional and attractively priced. Since then, they have been thorough and professional with repairs and maintenance
