Replacing an electrical service in an old house, wiring an outdoor sauna and installing an EV charger are among the jobs customers have described hiring JW Electric to do. The company says it serves Cape Cod and the South Shore with residential and commercial electrical work, and that it began in 2019 as a family- and locally-owned business. Its advertised work includes lighting, generators, EV chargers and mini-split wiring. Google lists a 4.7-star average from 39 ratings. In a November 2025 Google review, a homeowner described John and his crew replacing the electric service in a 134-year-old house and updating its outlets and switches. The customer said they caught old wiring that had become dangerous and finished on time and on budget. A January 2026 reviewer praised the crew’s care when wiring an outdoor sauna. More recently, a July 2026 customer praised a worker they identified as the owner’s son for his professionalism and knowledge. Other customers described specific installations in 2024. A May reviewer said John and his crew installed an EV charger and bathroom fans, created exhaust ducts and changed fixtures. Another May review described recessed lighting installed on the promised day, with cleanup afterward. A July 2024 customer said an electrician came within 24 hours, then identified and fixed the electrical issues within an hour. In a November 2023 review, a customer described John Weiss replacing an external main electrical line on short notice in freezing, windy February weather and staying into the evening until electricity was restored; the same customer also praised a separate panel replacement. Two 2022 complaints deserve attention. A July reviewer said a confirmed appointment was missed without a call and that their voicemail went unanswered. A May reviewer alleged a mini-split leaked three weeks after installation, an electrical inspection failed, a new ceiling was cut while locating a wire, employees left trash and a 100-foot electrical cord was stolen. Those are the customers’ allegations. Later accounts include praise for punctuality, including the November 2025 homeowner’s report that the service replacement finished on schedule.
John and his crew came out to work on our 134 year-old house. They replaced the electric service and updated all of our outlets and switches, even catching a few areas where the wiring had become so old it was a little dangerous. They were fantastic. All the work was completed on time and on budget. I highly recommend him.
Tanner was great! Efficient, knowledgeable, professional and on time!!
I’m such a dope that I forgot to ask his name but I know he’s the owner’s son. Extremely professional and totally knew his “stuff”! Such a personable young guy! Would use this company forever!
Great service, everything completed professionally. Thank you
Great experience working with these guys. They wired an outdoor sauna for us. They'll be my first call for any electrical work in the future. They are very conscientious in their efforts to do things right.
