King Energy designs, installs and maintains geothermal heating and cooling systems, and describes itself on its BBB page as helping homeowners move from traditional systems to geothermal. Its website lists a service area of Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New London, Tolland and Windham, and the company says it has been in business 43 years. A recent customer said the company inspected their 17-year-old ground source heat pump, had a written quote to them within 24 hours, and the crew replaced the heat pump and the hot water heater the following week, also flushing the coolant in the ground water system. A recent Reddit commenter said King Energy did a good job and they had not needed support or service since the install. A 2026 customer said Val and Bob installed a new geothermal pump in a day. In a 2026 review, a customer with a 300-year-old farmhouse in Stonington CT said the company helped with planning the project, selecting subcontractors and filing for State and Federal Tax credits. A 2023 customer said a 3-ton heat pump install, with electrical hook-ups, duct work connections and ground loop connections, was done in a few hours. A 2022 customer said King came up with a simpler design that reused most of the existing ductwork and stuck to its original cost estimate. In a 2021 review, a customer said Scot and his technician came out within 1 day for a heating failure, fixed the problem and had the part on hand. A 2024 customer said they had spent going on three years trying to get a quote on a new system after being told the company no longer services their older one. A 2023 Reddit commenter whose system was installed the year before called the process long and expensive, and said the company was helpful and responsive to concerns.

King Energy is a fantastic company to work with. We had our ground source heat pump replaced in April. The King Energy team came to our home and performed an inspection of our 17-year-old heat pump. After the inspection we discussed what options we had. The discussion was very up-front and rational. Within 24 hours we had a quote in writing. Having previously done our homework, we accepted their quote. King Energy agreed to perform the work the following week. The crew showed up as scheduled and replaced the heat pump and the hot water heater. They also flushed the coolant in the ground water system. It was clear that each team member had a specific task, which they performed exceptionally well. My husband, Will Durnall, had done this type of work in his Navy submarine career. He asked many questions as he observed their progress. Not one of his questions went unanswered, nor were answered in a manner that left their answer to be suspect. The entire installation took less than half a day. The respect that they showed to our home was commendable. The work area was thoroughly cleaned and the old heat pump, hot water heater, and associated items were removed. An operational test/demonstration of the new system was provided. This helped us understand how to operate and maintain our new system. They also guided us in getting a rebate from the electric company. In summary, King Energy provided us with the knowledge, both from a technical and financial standpoint, that we had made a good decision. We are very happy to have a connection to such a great company. The system is working well. In fact, we have seen a drop in our electric bill already, proving that sometimes it is prudent to upgrade rather than repair.
Had to have a new Geothemal pump installed. Both Val and Bob were professional and easy to work with. They installed the unit in a day and it is working perfectly. They both answered any questions I had and made the whole process as painless as possible. Thank you
King Energy installed our Geothermal system in early 2025. They did a fabulous job from start to finish in helping us navigate all the details -- from planning the project, selecting excellent subcontractors to work with, and helping us through the process of preparing and filing for State and Federal Tax credits. Scot and Val and their entire team are first class. We have already saved more than $5,000 in our first partial year of geothermal service by eliminating our oil burning furnace system. We could not be more happy about making this change for our 300-year-old farmhouse located in Stonington CT.
I had a geothermal system from King Energy installed in the building I have been building for about 4 years. The team there has been great throughout the process. As I am doing most of the work on the barn myself, it has been a slow, multi-year process, but they have been patient and worked with me during various stages to install the system, install the ductwork, and get the system up and running over a few years(!) while I worked on other parts of the building in between. I could not be happier with the support I have received from the whole team, from the initial calls, to the system design, installation, commissioning it, a few follow-up calls, and even help with the tax rebates!. The heating has been running for 2 seasons, and the cooling for one, and the performance of the system has been excellent! I continue to work on the barn and hope to complete it by the 5-year mark, but expect the geothermal system to pay dividends for years to come.
