In a March 2019 review, a homeowner described the old fireplace Brad Kingsbury updated with added wood trim and a rustic mantle, and said they loved how it turned out. That is the kind of job people wrote about here: built-ins, mantels, coffered ceilings — the work a finish carpenter gets called for. Kingsbury Woodworking & Design is Brad Kingsbury's shop in Scituate, and its Houzz profile puts it at over 15 years of custom carpentry and remodeling on the South Shore. Its written record runs February 2018 to December 2022, and on Houzz it is all five stars — 5.0 across six reviews, plus three Houzz awards and two badges. A February 2018 homeowner described built-ins he designed, built and installed for their living room, and said they would use him again. A January 2019 customer in Cohasset had a coffered kitchen ceiling done, fitted in while Brad waited for another job to start. In April 2018 another wrote that he was there when he said he would be and stayed a step ahead of them. The most recent written account, from December 2022, credits his work ethic and his management of the job. Google tells a different story: 3.6 stars from five ratings, and a two-star note in May 2022 from a homeowner who wanted stairs and banisters redone. Brad came out for the initial measurement without his equipment — the customer had forgotten their keys, and said as much — and told them he would call the following Monday to reschedule. Then the licence. The Massachusetts construction supervisor licence in Brad P. Kingsbury's name, CS-085638 — the same number the Houzz profile lists — is expired on the state registry. Ask where that stands before any job that needs one. For built-ins, mantels, trim and ceiling work on the South Shore, the homeowners who hired him between 2018 and 2022 describe careful work and a well-run job. Houzz puts a typical project between $15,000 and $100,000. Get the scope and the start date in writing, confirm the licence status, and pin down that first measurement visit before you count on a date.
Good work ethic and good working management. Great job with his working hard and good management skills. Defienely a 5.
I spoke with Brad about redoing our stairs and banisters. He came for the initial measurement and had forgotten his equipment. (I actually had forgotten my keys, so we were both on the same page.) He said he would contact me the following Monday to reschedule the measurement appointment, and never did. I reached out to him the following Tuesday and he didn’t respond until Wednesday night. I told him we were free the following week for him to come. He said he would be able to come Wednesday afternoon. I asked what time. He didn’t answer. The following Monday I reached out and asked again what time he would be able to come and his response was “I told you Wednesday. If you have other options, go with them.” I was taken back as I wanted to confirm the time. I apologized for bothering him. Never heard back. My initial meeting with him was pleasant and we had a laugh, however my communication with him afterwards was quite upsetting. I’m sure he does fine work, however his behavior was far from professional.
Brad updated our old fireplace by adding a gorgeous wood trim and rustic mantle. Love how it turned out! Would highly recommend his company!
I asked Brad if he was available to do some work on my house in cohasset, he did an awesome job. He did the Caughferred ceiling in my kitchen. He was able to sneak me while he was waiting for another job to start. I wish I had more work for him to do here. His quality of work was amazing and he cleaned up everyday.
Without a doubt this was the best experience with a contractor we've ever had. Brad was always here when he said he'd be here and was always one step ahead of us! His access was exceptional. On the few occasions we had questions we would alway hear back from Brad within a very short time frame. His attention to detail and cleanliness was amazing. His craftsmanship was excellent and we would recommend him without hesitation. Thanks for everything, Brad. We love our home.
