Kovalko Co. is a Brookline-area general contractor focused on renovations, construction, and remodeling. The company says it serves Brookline, while its profile describes Peter Kovalko as the founder of a licensed and insured construction company operating in the Boston area since 2001. Homeowners describe substantial residential work, including a complete renovation of a mid-century home's main floor, conversion of an unfinished woodshed into a bedroom, bathroom and room renovations in a historic house, kitchen and basement remodeling, and structural garage repairs. A 2026 customer said Peter was very fast and communicated well with the town; other reviews describe integrity, honesty, pragmatism, care, and clear explanations when a repair grew beyond the original expectation. The available customer history is consistently favorable but modest: seven reviews span 2021 through 2026, with one recent review in the last six months, and Google lists a 5-star average from 34 ratings. The company also has an active Massachusetts home-improvement-contractor license listed in the state registry. Kovalko looks suited to homeowners planning renovation, remodeling, or broader general-contractor work who value detailed communication and careful project handling. Before booking, confirm the exact scope, schedule, subcontractors, and current license and insurance details for the planned work.
“I’d also recommend Kovalko.com- honest and competant general contractor who is NOT right wing in the slightest! Did great work twice, a decade apart.”
Working with Peter was great! He was very fast, communicated with the town well, and we were very happy with the result. Thank you so much Peter!
Peter and his crew did a beautiful job with a complete renovation of the main floor of our 1959 mid-century home. We trust Peter completely - he works with integrity, honesty, pragmatism and care. His calm and straightforward demeanor always helped, especially given that renovating inevitably feels chaotic and overwhelming. We especially appreciated how clear and direct he was about communicating costs and expected timelines, even as these changed d/t structural issues in the house (which we had sort of expected). He and his crew (special shout out to Darius!) were always respectful, friendly and focused. He also gave recommendations that could cut costs multiple times, which was much appreciated. We will definitely work with Kovalko Co. again!
Peter, his crew and subcontractors recently totally renovated 2 sway-backed rooms in our 1845 historic house in Milton - a bathroom and a completely unfinished woodshed which he converted to a downstairs bedroom. We are very happy with the final results. He was very honest to work with , provided an initial estimate quickly, and was responsive to special requests and extra problems as they emerged part-way through. Ongoing 10% inflation this year meant6 that most of his subcontractors' charges came in over the original estimates, but Peter always alerted me and got my pre-approval. Some of the finish detail work could have been neater, but that I suppose was inevitable in an old house where nothing is square or plumb. Overall, Peter's prices were fair, and he handled all of the permit process and various inspections, a real plus. Given the difficulty of getting subcontractors scheduled, the entire job was completed on a very reasonable schedule.
We had a fairly complicated construction project that involved removing barn doors, widening the opening between two rooms and installing 3-pane sliding (very large) glass doors. Peter and his crew did a great job….the product looks lovely and the process was as painless as inside your home construction can be…..he was here when he said he would be; did as much dust prevention as possible and cleaned up each day; was always responsive to our questions and concerns. We will use him again if we ever have a similar project….highly recommend him.
I had a small project - replace the barn door in the bathroom with a traditional one. I was worried that this is "too small" and may be hard to get done. Peter treated my project timely and very professionally. I also had to do it "remote" as I was out of town. Peter sent me the pictures of work in progress and we ended up doing some changes. The result is very nice, and I feel I paid the fair price. Will hire Peter again!
