Lineal draws the plans and then swings the hammers — an architect-led design-build shop in Duxbury whose own pitch is that the drawings and the construction come from the same team, aimed at custom coastal houses on the South Shore and Cape Cod. The company says Ben and Alyssa LaMora formed it in 2004 and lists both as co-founders. Its stated territory runs from Duxbury, Hingham, Marshfield, Scituate and Plymouth down through Osterville, Barnstable, Chatham, Brewster and Cotuit. Its Houzz profile fills in the range: home remodeling and custom homes, but also historic building conservation and barn design — the work of older Cape and coastal properties, not subdivisions. What is missing is homeowners talking. One review sits on file, posted in 2023 and only a few words long; Google shows a 5★ average from 3 ratings, and the Houzz profile carries six projects and no customer reviews at all. That is not damning, but it is thin, and it is the biggest limit on what anyone can tell you about how these jobs actually go. The outside voices here come from the local press rather than clients. Cape Cod LIFE reported in 2022 that Ben LaMora had been named president of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Cape Cod, and a recent Cape Cod LIFE piece places him alongside an Osterville interior designer on a project — trade standing and published work, which is a different thing from a homeowner's account of a finished renovation. Worth a call if you want one firm handling both the design and the build on a custom or historic coastal home. Because so little is written down by past clients, ask for references from projects finished in the last year or two, and get the scope and schedule in writing before you sign.
