Lower Allston Electric is one master electrician and no crew. The site says Orlando Joseph runs it owner-operated, without subcontractors, from Western Avenue in Allston, and puts 15 years behind the work: panel upgrades, rewiring, landscape lighting and 24/7 emergency calls, mainly around Allston, Brighton and Cambridge, with Brookline and Somerville also in its stated service area. The written account on file is from January 2021, and it is about permits. A homeowner wanted a new breaker box in the basement; the electrician who came to quote it lost interest once they asked him to pull a permit. The homeowner called the company back, and it found someone else to do the work with a permit. That review gave 5 stars. On Google the company's overall mark is 3 stars from 2 ratings. For a permitted panel or breaker-box job where you deal with the electrician directly, this is a reasonable call. Ask who will actually be on site, get the permit written into the quote, and confirm the master electrician licence number and insurance before work starts.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Lower Allston Electric. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.
Estimated range
$530 – $1,100
Typical electrical project around $820
I had an electrician come in to quote installing a new breaker box in my basement. After calling him back and asking to pull a permit for it, he said he was no longer interested. I called back Lower Allston Electric HQ, and they found someone else to do the work with a permit at the same cost. The first electrician was pretty unprofessional and felt like I was working against him. However, calling their offices was the complete opposite - very friendly and found a way to meet everyone's needs.
